a question

about leaving the pits: do we have to stay inside the line and coast 2 turns to join the track at the back straight or just trow our car on track in the first corner Question

Very good question - I have been meaning to ask the same thing.

To word it differently for Ben if needed:

The yellow line exiting the pits ends after turn 2. Do we have to stay below the yellow line until the exit of turn 2 after we pit?

This is what Frank posted in 2010, I'd imagine the same rules apply.

Depending on how hard you are on your tires, you will have to do between 3 and 5 pitstops over the race. Pitstops are a very delicate manoeuvre with the Indy roadsters as 1) the brakes are virtually non-existent 2) there is no pit speed limit.
You are required to be extra careful during your time in the pit. Depending on where your pit stall is (see below) you will thus be allowed to drive in the pits at great speed. Make sure you stay on the far right of the pitlane as long as possible. Do not to slow down too brutally, mind the other cars in pitlane, try not to overshoot your pit stall.

As we are starting the race from the track, you will have no clue as where your pit stall is located on the pitlane. One way to know is to assign a button on your wheel (or key on your keyboard) to the "call pitstop" option in rFactor. Calling the pitstop this way will highlight the red square of your pit stall in the pits, just as you usually get to see it once you have entered the pitlane.

Remember that as there is no pit speed limit, so you need to know where you pit stall is... or you might lose a lot of time on your first pitstop. Also remember the cars handle very oddly at reduced speed, so make sure you have trained your pitstop sequence before race day.

Pit entry will be made from after turn 4 (exit of the last turn, i.e. when entering the main straight). You have the right to bite on the grass at the entry of the pits, but remember you are required to have at least 2 wheels on the (asphalt) track at every moment.
Pit outs will be done as prudently as possible. There was no inner lane in the turns in 1960 and the pit exit opens on the entry to turn 1. So please be extra careful when you pit out : don't enter T1 too fast and don't go wide up the turn. Do not try either to drive on the left side of the white line at the apex - that will most likely make you spin out. Just stick to the apex while accelerating progressively and mind your mirrors .

And even worse...was in a Non Conformance Report meeting - which means we were reviewing all the screw-ups by my team. Only slightly better than visiting a dentist for a root canal.  :aie:

Quick briefing before tomorrow:

The Start

As said in the rules, it will be a flying start. Before that there will be 2 formation laps behind the poleman (Austin here). These two laps will not count for the 500 miles so the race will be set with 202 laps. The pace for these two laps will be around 130kph/80mph.
During these laps you will be able to:
- localize your pit spot at the end of the first lap (by asking a pitstop to your crew).
- take your position behind the driver you are supposed to be. (so no need tu rush at the green light, wait that the driver in front of you has started)

Pit Exit

No specific rules for this, only be very careful. If the track is clear your are good to go, but if there are many cars on track at this moment, it will be better for all if you wait to be between T1 and T2 to join the track. In any case you will have to stay inside until you reach full speed.

There will be no restart, so no need to ask for it, whatever happened to you.
