Au contraire my friend. While I started out road racing I became an oval fan with Nascar Racing 2002 15 years ago. While I like both forms of racing, I am a lot more competitive on ovals than I am on roadcourses. Well that is with the exception of a few tracks and cars.

Are we going to have a test event for the 1971 F1 season?

Not planned ATM, we will be spending some time with internal testing and debugging of the mod and then release for car choice making. Whatever issues appear from there on, we will be adressing as with CART88 with succesive patches until we reach *perfection*

Same with Can-Am?

It's really tight now, and our priority is finishing the basic debugging/deglitching of the mod for release so that people can start testing cars ASAP to make their choices. Wether that is with some unofficial fun event or simply with an open server for people to test (Most likely), we will see. The dates don't help much either, with people being busy in Xmas with family, etc.

We still have to make the final 2018 calender public (Likely in Xmas), but one thing I can advance is that we will likely be starting the year with a GS open, and CanAm will come after that. F1 will be the last championship to start.

EDIT: Just to clarify, F1 mod is finished and ready in rFactor, but we are busying ourselves with the porting to AMS, which means enabling the extra features (Tire dirt pick-up, flatspots, etc). A release of the mod for rFactor is planned, but our priority now is having it in AMS with the extra candy fully working.

The mod will cover the triple crown entrants, which are the races we will be doing in 2018, though it might expand later to cover more cars. First race will be the Indy 500 in May, so the mod will be released for that event. We intend on doing it for AMS, but same as F1 there should be a rfactor version appearing somewhen.

Alberto, what exactly is the "extra candy" in compare with rF? As you mentioned, there is dirt pickup, flatspots, what else? Some overall overhaul of tyre physics, feedback, etc? Will the game set the wheel rotation (steering lock) automatically based on the used wheel?

Yes details like the wheel rotation which is custom for each car in that game. AMS adds some lines to most files (Car, tires, engine) that provide those extra functions. There is also the turbo simulation, which will be relevant for the USAC cars. Sadly I can't provide a full list as Ricardo is mostly responsable for that.

EDIT: Also we need to update the ported tracks to the extra features in AMS, like racing line building up.
