| 1973 Indianapolis 500 Time Trials => DOWNLOAD TRACK <= => HOTLAPS <= These time trials will determine the starting grid for our 1973 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. For our Time Trials, we will be using HSO 1973 Championship Cars v1.0 with this 1.0b update for Indy. The race will take place on JP's 1973 Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Those drivers with older computers are advised to reduce their detail levels prior to logging on. Time Trials Overview The following is the May 24th Time Trial schedule. All times listed are Paris time. 20h00 - Time Trials commence (please select superspeedway configuration) 22h00 - 15 minute break22h15 - Time Trials resume00h15 - Time Trials end Server no: 91.121.135.76:34600Game name is: Historic Simracing USAC73 Password is: hso73Drivers are initially scheduled in order of car number (drivers are allowed to swap time slots or request to be moved to a vacated slot; please announce any swaps or requests in this thread). In the event of an accident, late arrival, no-show or wave-off, the driver in question will be added to the end of the list and the next driver scheduled will attempt to qualify. As each qualifying run is completed/rescheduled on May 24th, this table, as well as the provisional lineup below it, will be updated in real time. Please plan to log on at least 10 minutes before your time slot. If the four-lap runs are completed faster than expected, there *may* be time for extra runs before the end of the session, but the session will still end at 00h15. **If you cannot make your scheduled time, please let the admins know before Time Trials by posting in this thread; this will save valuable time for others to qualify** Complete qualification rules are listed below this table. Lap times and speed averages over 200 mph will be indicated in the table with bold type.Car# | 2015 HSO Driver | Time (Paris time) | Lap 1 (sec) | Lap 2 (sec) | Lap 3 (sec) | Lap 4 (sec) | Total Time/Result | Speed (mph) | 1

Drivers are allowed to park on the pit lane as they wait their turn in order to save time.- When setting out for an attempt, if a driver knocks off their front wing or blows the engine before leaving the pits, they are allowed one more chance to enter the track successfully. If they blow their engine on the track itself, they will have to try to qualifying again later. One attempt will not be charged to the car in this case.
- The out-lap rules regarding staying below the painted lines until turn 2 exit will not apply during Time Trials.
- Absolutely NO chatting is allowed while a qualifying run is underway.
- Each car has up to three chances to qualify, HOWEVER, this is not a guarantee that there will be enough time in the session for one car to make three attempts.
- A driver may wave off their attempt if they feel it is too slow. One attempt will still be charged to the car.
- If a driver wants a second attempt, they must wave off their first attempt before it is complete (ideally this would be done by slowing down and typing "wave off" in the chat). The times from the first attempt are discarded, and the driver's name is added to the end of the qualy list to try again after all the originally scheduled runs have been attempted/abandoned.
- Once a run has been completed, that is the car's qualifying time and speed, unless it is bumped from the 33-car provisional lineup. - Once a run has been completed, drivers should bring their car to a stop in the short chute between turns 1 and 2, and hit 'esc' -- this will ensure that they are not in the way when the next scheduled car takes to the track.- If the four-lap runs are completed faster than expected, there may be time for extra runs before the end of the session, but the session will still end at 00h15.- If a car is bumped out of the provisional lineup, the driver of said car may ask via chat to be put at the end of the list in an attempt to qualify again. There is no guarantee that there will be enough time available at the end of the session for this, but if there is, the option exists.- At 00h15 CET, if a driver is in the middle of a qualifying run, they will be allowed to complete the run.- Only the fastest 33 cars will be allowed to start the 500 mile race on May 31st. In the event that less than 33 qualify, the remainder of the field will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis on Race Day.* In the event that 33 qualify and there are drivers too slow to make the 33 car field, up to three alternates will be named (34th, 35th and 36th fastest) for Race Day, in the case that one or more of the qualified cars do not appear.- *Drivers who only show up on Race Day MUST have a car booked in the Entry List. Behaviour on trackA few behaviour rules :- as for all HSO events, it is required you use your real name both in-game and on the forum. Thank you.- DO NOT enter the track under a red condition Application and Interpretation of the RegulationsThe admins alone are qualified to solve any problems raised by the application and the interpretation of the present regulations. Web TV CoverageOur Time Trials will carried live on PaddockTV. Click here for the broadcast link.

| The question is not wether to lift or not, the question is wether to brake or not You have to lift (Unless you use so much wing you no longer are competitive in straight line), but you can tap the brakes a bit before turn entry or simply lift. That is something that depends on your setup. | |

| For 1000 HP cars wings for qualy will be around 20/15 or 18/14 depending on what works best for your driving style. Balance first the aero, then go for the rest. If the rear tends to step out quickly and in a violent way, your are most likely running too much rear anti roll bar.

I expect pole to be faster than the 198.413 Rutherford posted in RL.

| I think that breaking the 200 mph barrier is not that hard with the best 1000 HP cars, and we will see people do it in training. But being able to do it in official qualy is another matter, as the tires take long to warm up and 5 laps might not be enough | |

| 200 average isn't hard to attain, but as Alberto has said, it will be hard in qualifying. We might see some breaking it on Lap 4. But the tires need 3, at minimum, laps to warm-up.
I've run 200 in offline practice with a couple simple changes to the default setup. Now, it was scary as hell, and I wouldn't recommend it, it was squirrely as all get out.

Yes that's another factor ... will anyone risk botching his qualy run just to attempt breaking the 200 MPH mark? In our virtual race, starting position will count even less than in the real life race, so personally I am going to play it safe.

| The other thing to consider, I've noticed that at Max Boost, the engine is a LOT more sensitive to the Revs. I dunno how many times I've blown up just trying to leave my Garage, Gasoline Alley, exiting pit road, shifting up into 3rd at speed. It's REALLY touchy at the 1000 bhp boost level.

| One other thing to consider. If people blow through the 200 mph barrier by a considerable margin on the server, they may have done so with the aid of slipstream. Such conditions will not exist in qualifying.

| Are we going to be able to join the server during the qualifying sessions as the end of the real Indy 500 will overlap with the start of the session? |

People will be coming and going. Everyone will have an assigned time slot.

Yeah. Plus the pressure of qualy and if you do make a mistake and crash, having to go to the end of the line and hoping there is enough time to do another run!
