| Scott Urick! All is not lost! Earlier in this thread, I expressed my doubts about being able to complete the grueling 500 miles. With that in mind, I am prepared to swap my currently approved entry...#18 Lloyd Ruby Eagle...for your Lee Brayton Coyote. This ride is sight unseen for me but no matter... I'd rather see you in the race with a chance in a decent car rather than stand down. Deal? RSVP here or to me via PM. This is a time-sensitive offer so... Standby for news on a ride switch, Jason... | |

| Hey Doni,
If Scott doesn't take you up on your offer, I'd like to. I have a McLaren M16A that's quick enough to make the field but I've been training in an Eagle so I know what I'm missing without one and I'd like to be more competitive.

| A friendly reminder: The track will open on May 1st, which is only hours away now. Those of you who have not confirmed your ride please do so, or look into another car if you want to. We prefer that only those who are confirmed in a car take to the track so we can have an accurate picture of hot laps in practice. | |

| I didn't specify the #84 as one of my choices. I didn't even choose the Coyote chassis in any of my choices. Still, I guess since others got in before me I'll have to make do. Any particular reason why I got this car? I'm okay at ovals, so maybe I can do well in it. Besides, this car would win Indy 4 years later so... It could be worse I guess, so yeah, I'll confirm the #84. Besides, it kind of has a sort of exclusivity to it, since it's only 1 of 3 Coyotes. Though I wouldn't have minded a lower model Eagle/McLaren.... | |

| Chronology has nothing to do with the car assignment, this event wasn't based on a first-come first-serve basis, and since it is not a league mod it is impossible to please everyone. Any non-conflicting first choices have been directly assigned, many have got a 2nd or 3rd choice, and only a handful could not get any of their 3 pickings. I can't speak for Frank, our senior admin who sorted out the list, but he is not taking part in the race and has always been more than impartial (His fellow senior admin and friend Martin got a dog of a car he had picked as 3rd choice, if this serves to illustrate the point) and he will have had good reasons for any decission. Of course, making a good-cars-only pick is always going to give anyone more problems to be lucky than a balanced choice.
Still, remember that car swapping is allowed as Jason already pointed out, and that real life will as always take his toll on many people, so it is a certainty that several cars will become available in the future.
The Coyote is a more than reasonable car that should have no trouble to make the field, and is better than f.e. the Eagle Chevys.

| I'm sorry to read about the few unhappy drivers regarding the car they were assigned, but it couldn't be helped 41 drivers booked a car for this event - 23 got their first choice, 8 their second choice, 5 their third choice. That left us with 5 drivers who could not get one of the cars they had picked : Rocky, Scott, Dana, Joshua and Petr. Joshua, Petr and Scott were part of a group of 6 drivers who had all picked almost the same trio of cars so obviously there was no way all 6 could get a car from said trio. Seniority as HSO members was the deciding factor here. Dana's choices were conflicting with other drivers too and it was down to a coin toss with Jason Fitch for #6 . As for Rocky here again conflicting choices with other drivers, and being the fast driver we all know he is we elected to give him a Chevy car like Martin - I sincerely hope he'll be up for the challenge. Overall 36 out of 41 drivers got a car they picked, which is a higher number than we would have had if booking had been done the usual first come/first served way. Nothing is never perfect in this world, so this is not either, but we did the best we could to make everyone happy. Also it's going to be a long month of May, some drivers can drop out, qualifying is tough and should be full of surprises and upsets so hopefully some slower cars will make it into the field anyway. Thanks Doni for your kind offer by the way, I hope Dana will make the swap with you. Scott has already withdrawn from the event so that closed the door for him to any such possibilities I'm afraid.

| Well, I don't think the Chevy's are worse than the Coyote Mk3. But I will take what I have been given for now.

Sure! Just pick one of the cars that are left, no need to list three at this point.

Standby for news on a ride switch, Jason... Doni, thank you for your very thoughtful offer! I truly appreciate it. Unfortunately, not believing anyone would swap down to the Brayton Coyote or that it would make the race, I withdrew. Plus, I didn't want to spend the month trying to beg, borrow, or steal any abandoned rides that may come open. It is a very lovely offer and I sincerely thank you. I really think that car could be a serious contender, but Frank has ruled and I'm staying out. Good luck to Dana in that car, if you choose to make that deal!
