| Hi to everyone at HSO. I'm mgs_ita, COMS's "M": founder, physics maker and overall modder (when time lets me ). I'm really glad (as is the rest of the team) that you're using our mod, but we released only the 1.03 for the genereal public. 1.04 series was and still is an inner development cycle between us COMS and F1-S-R and the only reason that they have it is that they're helping us developing the definitive version of the mod. So, a few questions arise: 1. How did you get this version of the mod? 2. Who told you that you could use it? I'm not meaning to offend anyone, as a matter of fact, we are glad that HSO uses our products. But, we cannot allow a development version to slip out and go around the 'Net, because we'd like to let you play the definitive version, the real deal. In the meantime, please cancel the event, it's unrespectful of our work. I'm asking this on behalf of the Group. Wishing you all the best. | |

| Okay, clearly there has been a miscommunication of some kind...
If it was a development mod, why was it released to such a broad audience?
When a 1.0 is used, doesn't that means it is a released mod? (at least that is what I understand. If I am wrong, others can correct me). If there is some kind of exclusive use agreement between F1-S-R and you guys, this is the first time I'm hearing about it. Mike, Frank, you care to chime in?
If we use 1.03 instead of 1.04 for our event, would that make this issue go away? _________________

From our side Jason, we saw it always as a close collaboration between us and F1-S-R. As a matter of fact, I've always sent the mod to my Mega accounts, to keep it in check when new releases come up and to stop eventual leaks when found. I'm not saying that nobody besides F1-S-R can use it, but at least ask wouldn't have hurt, instead of seeing my mod popping up here without me and the group knowing nothing about it. Again, we don't want to be the party poopers around here, it's just a matter of common sense.

| First you should introduce yourself to your real name. Please do not be offended, but for example, I'm not sure you are a developer. Secondly, if this version of the mod was in the network, is absolutely inadmissible be on different portals and prohibit already running of the event. In any case, information leakage is the problem modding group and we are not obliged to suffer such problems!

I think Jason and I were the 1st to discuss the mod here. We both ran in one or two of the F1SR races. The mod was presented as released. We were far from unrespectful of your work and have been talking it up (giving the work compliments) and pumping it up for some time. Per the previous post, please change your name to your real name. _________________

| Agreed, but just one thing - If you're not going to release a mod to the public, surely you can password-protect it? | |

| @mgs_ita The admins will of course discuss the mater with you, but regarding your question "Where did you get the mod from?" It is openly downloadable for example here: http://f1-sim-racer.co.uk/index.php/forum/17-rfactor/21951-rfactor-servers I don't know where the admins got it, but it's not like the latest version was hidden from the public _________________ | |

| For starters, it's not our fault if a conversion is leaked. Then, maybe I can ask you to remove Monaco from your track pack ? All the work on the harbor section was done by me, and granted I made the mistake to share my work on F1Classic, I was never given any credit for that. I'm not an admin here, but it's amazing that we are given lessons of "respecting others' work" when your team doesn't respect others in first place. _________________ http://newarchive.simjunkies.org/discussion/9582/asj-f1-1982-race-4 | |
