The Cal 500 server will be down today so we can run the final round of F1 71. It will be re-launched immediately following the conclusion of the race.

Seems like I have to withdraw my Parnelli entry. This race beginning earlier means that I won't have time to get home from work.

Very interesting the classification system used for this race in the real world: https://www.oldracingcars.com/indy/1974/
The times we are doing are much faster than the pole A.J. Foyt that marked an average time of 50,325 in the 40 laps of heat 1.

Yes we are quicker, but we don't suffer the real life limitation of 80 inches of boost. For 1974 USAC had a stupid rule -implemented after the previous year's Indy catastrophic accident- where you had limited boost for qualy but NOT for the race. So the cars had much less power in qualifying and therefore pole speed was not representative of what they could do. For the race, it was the total fuel allowed what dictated the maximum boost the teams could put on the engines, so for 500 mile races they were also normally quite detuned.
In rfactor we can't reproduce all those limitations, so a compromise was reached. You are quicker in qualy but race lap speeds will be much closer, though I should probably have made the engines a bit thirstier to make things more interesting
