| If I hit the grass at speed on the start/finish section ( roughly pit start to pit end) my car lifts off like the Mercedes at the '99 Le Mans race. It that supposed to happen? | |

No it's not. It happens anywhere on the track if you clip the grass. I had it happen to me on the backstretch.

| So the moral of the story is don't clip the grass. The same thing was happening in pre-season testing, but we have angled the apron slightly more now, so it is at least safe to dip under the white line.

| LOL. I may have bit off more than I can chew. I can't get the car below a 34. If I drive the Penske I can get a 32 with the in game setup and no modifications. | |

But it gets excellent mileage! While still true, I was just kidding, Rachel. In all actuality, the admins probably would not have let you have one of the top-flight cars until they become more familiar with you. Taking the "no pit-crew" or "pissing up a rope" Dale Coyne car is an excellent place to start. And that is not to say that you need any experience or some kind of a set of training wheels! But if you can drive cleanly and professionally, and show that you are making a genuine effort to get the car to the finish, that will gain you the most respect and gain favor with the admins in allowing access to some of the better rides. I'm no admin. Just trying to help a new driver. You may have gotten all the car has to give already. But if you want any help with setup or line, get your TS working and send me a PM. We'll set a time to get on the server and work it over.

I tried it for funsies and eventually got it down to a 33,65, which is "just" half a second off the Cossies! I uploaded the setup to our database on the main site. Feel fre to try it out, and welcome to HSO! http://historicsimracing.org/en/list_setup

| Im stuck at 32,5sec per lap. Im able to do it on Boost 5 in only last few laps of the stint. Nither higher rpm setting with less fuel is not helping. I have a feeling Im pulling a barge behind me.. At the end of the straights I reach a shy 350kmph, but in turns my speed drops to 330.. Im going flat through the turns.. My wings are set to 1 (even, I feel much comfortable with front on 2, with no loss of speed), so, am I expecting too much from my YUGO car, or there is some hidden button that should be pusshed for some more speed? I tryed a lot of combinations with suspensions, but tbh, I didnt notice any difference neither in car behaviour, neither in car perfomance.. I havent spun or lost it once, in more than 150 laps I made.. it sims glued to a track, which is acctualy nice, but I just cant even reach the limit.. Any advise? | |

| I was running around 32.5 sec (maybe slightly faster) with both wings on 1. The times that you see of the hotlaps page will be slipstreaming times, if there are other cars on the server when you are there watch what times they do when they are running on their own. This is going to be a slipstreaming race so make sure your race setup takes that into account. | |

| The fastest time was set with slipstream from another Penske. Very hard to reach on your own, especially in qualifying with just two laps, but it could be possible in a slipstream train. I expect someone to break my lap record but for now I enjoy seeing my name on top for just a bit longer. | |

| Raul, hell all of us with the "old" chassis.
You're going to want the wings as low as they'll go, plus you'll want to take some downforce OUT of the body itself.
If the car feels "stuck" to the track as you say, try to "un-stick" it. Do something to "break the seal" for the Ground Effects.
These cars produce MORE downforce from the body than the wings. If you can cut the Chassis out as much as possible then use the wings to fine tune it, you might be able to pull off some decent Qual times.
The race will be a different story, but for the race you should have a draft to be able to use.
Qualifying should shake out with the Penske's up front and then the T88's, 88C's, T87's/87C's and the 2 or 3 86C with the Coyne car at Tail-Gunner.
But once the race starts that all will go out the door, with the draft, I would be willing to bet I could start dead last in my car and be at the front within about 10 or 15 laps. At least within the Top 5.
Rachel, you're not gonna be anywhere near the rest of the field Time wise, you're running a Stock Block while everyone else is Turbocharged, you've got about Half the Horsepower of everyone else.

Jason, thank you for suggestions.. Tbh, I dont know how the ground effect affects speed, and before all how to tune it. My logic and common sense, and my knowlege of ground effect tells me that car needs to be lower in front and higher in rear, and the bigger the difference is, the effect is higher, at least up to some point. But, does more ground effect slowers the car on straight (Im considering this oval as a big straight), it is something I dont know.. but Ill try to tweak those screws and see what happens. Atm, Im pretty satisfied with setup mr. Stevens started and I tweaked a bit (thank you mr. S). Still some work to do

Please download and apply this SCN update. Thank you
--> DOWNLOAD SCN UPDATE <-- Now that you mention SCN updates . . . . The apron for pit out isn't hardly as wide as the cars. It's gonna get really dicey trying to get back up to speed, pinned to the inside of the white line, while cars on track are coming by at 220mph trying to keep it pinned right on the same white line. Any relief with that?
