| Hello fellow simracers! The 2017 season will be the ninth year of HSO competition. It's hard to believe we are closing in on a decade of racing! We want to thank all of you for your loyalty and your passion for historic sims, because that is what keeps this league going -- both on the track, and behind the scenes. As in the past years, rFactor and its mods will be our mainstream platform for the season, with the possibility of including rFactor 2. Our racing days remain Wednesday and Sunday nights at Central European Time. Our 2017 calendar will feature a mix new HSO content and some tried-and-true favorites. Several championships will be contested, including the HSO Gold Star Championship (now in its third year); this will comprise all the open races held during the year. In addition to the races, HSO will continue its web TV coverage, utilizing our YouTube account and Open Broadcast Software with a series of commentators. THE CHAMPIONSHIPS 1991 World Drivers' ChampionshipThe very popular 1991 F1 mod returns for another Sunday season! When enthusiasts look back on memorable F1 championships, 1991 always comes to mind. Senna and Mansell fighting for the title, the arrival of Michael Schumacher, the end of an era at Ferrari, and the upstart Jordan team. In addition to re-creating this historic championship, we will be broadcasting live via YouTube. We look forward to seeing many more exciting HSO battles!Simulator : F1SR 1991 mod for rFactorCars : Open-wheel monocoque; 3.5L normally aspirated enginesSchedule : All races held on Sunday nights, starting in JanuaryRace time: Roughly 2 hours1988 CART PPG Indycar World SeriesOn the Indycar front, we have fresh content for you! Our new CART 1988 mod will re-create the American open wheel series at its zenith. Names like Andretti, Mears, Rahal and Sullivan were in the spotlight, but so too were the engine and chassis manufacturers. Chevrolet battled Cosworth for supremacy, while Judd, Porsche and Buick looked to establish themselves as contenders. Plus, Lola, March and Penske pushed the boundaries of what a winning Indycar could be. Our series will include the 1988 Indianapolis 500, with all the fanfare and detail that we put forth in 2016.Simulator : HSO CART 1988 Mod for rFactorCars : Open-wheel monocoque; mainly 161 cubic-inch turbocharged V8 enginesSchedule : All races held on Sunday nights, starting in late MarchRace time : Roughly 2 hours; 500 mile races will be longer1982 World Endurance ChampionshipOn the heels of our very successful Castrol 1000, we will be staging an abbreviated 1982 WEC Series. Unlike previous championships, we will be allowing open entry lists at each event, which will yield more opportunities for collaboration and car choice. Keep in mind that these are very long races, so drivers with patience and a cool head will be favourites!Simulator : VLM mod for rFactorCars : TBA Schedule : All races held on Sunday nights, starting in late JanuaryRace time : Roughly 6 hours 1996 British Touring Car ChampionshipThat's right! The Super Tourers are coming to HSO! Our Factory Team has been working all year on our conversion mod for Wednesday nights, and first up will be the 1996 BTCC Championship. Names like Audi, BMW, Ford, Volvo and Vauxhall will be featured prominently. And there will be additional series with the mod later in the year, so this is just the beginning!Simulator : HSO Super Tourers conversion for rFactorCars : 2.0L Saloons from all around the world Schedule : All two-heat events held on Wednesday nights, starting in JanuaryRace time : Roughly 1.5 hours total for each event2017 HSO Gold StarOpen races will be held periodically on Sundays, and the cumulative results of these will determine the Gold Star champion. Emphasis will be placed on variety, so those drivers who are versatile will enjoy the series. HGT, Super Tourers and other mods are likely to feature.Simulator : TBACars : TBASchedule : All races held on Sunday nightsRace time : TBAAdditional Wednesday night racing after our Summer Break will be the subject of separate announcements. We would also like to take this occasion to point out that our server renewal is coming up at the end of this year. | I already reserved a car for the CART and WEC for sure...wait there was a Nordschleiffe round in WEC if I'm correct For F1, well I"ve to see which car I could have. On BTCC....depends on the tracks. Not really sure I could attend | |

| Not my favourite F1 year for driving pleasure, but that's entirely made up by the other championships. | |

| CART 1988: Sounds interesting to me, probably gonna be there. F1 1991: Deja-vu... don't call me picky, but I was absolutely atrocious when I drove the Minardi, the team was only so high up due to Gregoire! These cars are a NIGHTMARE to set up right, so I'll probably be shit once again if I don't give it a pass WEC 1982: As an endurance guy, probably yes. I just hope my "game has stopped"-messages won't return... BTCC 1996: Just no FWD for me please, if there's something I don't wanna drive then it's that layout But this all depends on how time I have at hands. | |

| CART, BTCC, count me in! WEC could be something for me, too, especially when it goes out to the Nordschleife F1, I gotta see. I miss some 60s/70s flavour, though. I need a reason to grow sideburns and wear those skintight shirt and flared pants! Any way I can offer my help? | |

| TBH, F1 era without wings would have been cooler. And even though I've got like one year ook about '91, I dislike the rF1 mod quite a lot. I HATE mods with dozens of things to set up. And I never get it right either... Kelvin Burt's crash was 1996? I still seem to remember how we got back home and saw Burt crash violently(on the recorded tape I believe). Not sure if my memory is correct, but with being like 7 years old, that might be the reason I can already see the Audis being driven by learner drivers as they are 4WD and thus superior. Still, unless it's Menu's car, I'll be rather unhappily understeering off at turns | |

| You've obviously never drove a proper supertourers mod then David, these cars had very little Torque steer. The Audi wasn't dominant come the end of the season too due to the extra weight they carried.
And yes it was 96 Burt had his accident.

| It didn't keep Biela from annihilating the field though But probably the important part was that the car was very reliable and Biela was a very solid and consistent driver. That must have been the difference to John Bintcliffe, who was rather average in the same car. I dunno why Audi didn't sign somebody else. At least we're not(?) using the rain plugin, so we're spared of the rain dominance. Doesn't really matter Richard, I was shit at everything FWD on rF1, so I am having the same expectations of sucking again Have you seen the Super Tourers championship on Touring Pro Series? I was okayish, but sucked at being fast with my Renault Laguna... | |

| Biela dominated at the beginning yes, but they had less weight. From Oulton they got more weight.
Bintcliffe got the drive because he had a chance meeting with Richard Lloyd who was a senior figure at Audi Sport UK at the time and pushed through for Bintcliffe to drive the second car. He was so far off Biela because he had never driven 4WD before and struggled to drive it correctly. Biela knew how to due to the massive amount of testing he did.
Touring Pro, I raced there in a Cavalier, a league mod, and very unrealistic. You couldn't even turn and apply the power without spearing off.

Enough that their rivals were fed up with it. Biela won by nearly 100 points Bintcliffe's averageness was shown even more when the Quattro became a... Duo? He may have won when he got used to the 4WD in '97, but he dropped back into nowhereland the year after. Was it? TBH, that mod came from the Super Tourers mod, which was also... average. @Felipe: I think you're not the only one that has the same plan. I have to check myself, dunno who drove before my birth

Our conversion comes with completely new physics, using the correct suspension geometry in the cars. You'd be surprised to know what we found under the hood in some of those original mods, and even on some cars in Race07 Now they feel as they should, Richard Wilks made an amazing work with the physics. I normally don't like FWD and was despite that quite hooked.
