[WIP] Grand Prix racing 1937

Hi to all,

BigBen(same author from the 1937 Brooklands track and the Mercedez 1928 SSK mod) and Nige team up and formed Team Vintage. The Team is working hard to bring to everyone,especially those who love pre-WW2 racing, the 1937 Grand Prix season.The mod will have 5 cars,for starters:

-Auto union type C
-Mercedes-Benz W125
-Alfa Romeo 12C 36
-Maserati 8CM
-E.R.A type B

If I remember correctly, there are already some other circuits that can be used for the season, like Avus and Pau

I wonder if they have found a way to extract the models from the old game "Spirit of 1937", or if they are doing them from scracth. It was more an arcade game, but graphics and models were terrific for that time

Monza with the banking exists too and, if I'm not mistaken, Mehalla (note sure there) . And THE track of those years is also available: the Nordschleiffe.

And there was not a season a that time as the championship wasn't in use.

But thats quite great mod waiting there. Too bad we only get the Auto Union C and not her sister car the D. Well the C is more gorgeous

I think it was a mod started by Team Players, at least one of the two are former members of the team.

I think some of the tracks are already on rFactor but most would need a lot of layout modifications and of course landscape changes too. Off the top of my head missing ones would be the likes of Tripoli-Mellaha, Livorno, Mineola, the old Brno to stick to the Grandes Epreuves.

There was a championship in those days too, a European one.

Anyway I've been waiting for such a mod since the first rumours of a Titans mod on GPL back in... 2002ish ! Anyone remembers Spirit of Speed 1937 ?

I do... never was able to take one corner at Pau as the cars can't pass it without bumping into the barreers

Also love the tracks of Rooselvelt and the old Donnington on that games.

I always loved the Auto Union C.
But never likes the arcade type of the game (very disappointing indeed) and I turned back to GPL.

Yes huge disapointment it was awful on all accounts. True some tracks were decent (Pau, Montlhéry and Brooklands were quite accurate) but others like Tripoli or Mineola were just outrageously inaccurate. As for physics

Tripoli was the track you drive into the town?
The GPL version was far better if I remember well. Quite a terrific track with very long straights and dreadful braking places. A old fashion track.
It was the first GP of the game if I remember well.

Yes it was much more accurate in GPL ! I liked it a lot, it felt like a flat Spa in an oasis !

I race on it once in F1Legends if I'm right. Don't remember my results but was on a BRM (how strange it is from me in GPL ). Not really the kind of track I like but this one was different (surely the oasis indeed) and I've had a good feeling on it.

I remember trying the SoS 1937 demo when it came out, Donington Park I believe. I also remember trying to make it through a corner and crashing.

I've never tried the full version but it seems I haven't missed much.

Oh, and I swear I'll boycott the mod if it's called "1937 F1" ! Should be "1937 Grand Prix", really, or "1937 Formule Internationale" .

All cars are made from scratch. and the name of the mod will be Grand Prix racing 1937.

The Monaco 1967 track could be used too.it is the most close that we will get to the 1937 version of Monaco,at least until Team Players release their trackpack for the F1 1955 mod.but this could take ages yet...

When you see comments like that, it makes you wonder why bother working hard for free to see the "gimme gimme" complain all the time.

I'm doing the friggin tracks and bringing the track pack so wankers like you can test the cars done by 2 persons basically. Yet you, the gimme gimme, complain for things you get for free.

I won't continue with this discussion.I'm sorry,but i i'll not play the F1 1955 mod,mostly because i don't like the 50's F1 cars.i'm only interested on 2 tracks of the trackpack.now enough of this off toppic.

Yes,Ben and Nige are doing a great job in those models.it will be epic to race these beasts!

It really must have taken a lot of courage to drive those things to the limit
