Fixed setups are indeed very weird, I don't understand why they did it and why they don't mention them in the mod announcement. Did you read the read me file Alberto ? Anything interesting in there ?

I'll have to try it for myself to get an opinion of the physics myself. Looks gorgeous though :D

IMO the HSO Group C mod is fine, so I guess that's something to compare the later Group C cars to? scratch

Driven some cars now, and I'm really loving everything in the mod, Physics and Sounds are amazing... Graphics, a few cars are ok, most of them excellent, the only thing that disappointed me was the fixed setup thing as Alberto said, but all in all absolutely still worth racing online.
Gonna keep driving for a long time tonight. Very Happy

Ok, well I tried it and I don't think I've ever seen a mod with so much thought put into it. Even CTDP F1 2006 and HistoricGT. The effort that went into this is remarkable..tried the Lancia LC1 and LC2, the sounds and physics so far have been incredible and they were perfectly set up for a lap around Le Mans.

Although I would suspect if I tried to take them around Brands Hatch or Mosport it might be different and frustrating especially with the fixed set-ups..that was a weird decision.

The physics aren't Niels Heuskinveld level but I reckon (at least for the Lancia's) they pretty damn good, and the sounds are just... affraid Thinlane and Vassalfdada deserve an Oscar or some shit for it. Definitely trying one of the Mazda rotary's tomorrow.......

Only other problem or gripe I have with the mod is the lack of inclusion of the 962C, the mod loses speed very quickly after 1985. The mod would have taken longer to release but it was too much of a vital part of Gr.C and you could nearly have a full grid up until 1988.

Don't get me wrong, I like the mod a lot Smile It has full fields at least for some seasons, amazing attention to detail and from what I have inspected in the physics files, quite realistic and well thought solutions :top:

It's just that I can't understand the contradiction between providing such detail mimmicking real life and then locking the car setups as if this was a league edition mod :smil20:

It is inevitable that not all cars will work well at all tracks and you need to be able to set them up as they did in real life. As it is now, the mod limits itself to the specific tracks planned and whatever similar ones happen to work well.

An example of this contradiction: They have implemented a good ground effects system for the car's underbody, but you can't play with ride height and suspension stiffness to extract the full potential of the car (Lower=more grip until it stalls, so you need to find the compromise between ride height and stiffness).

That doesn't make sense, it is as if doing a great and detailed mod ... in console gaming style Evil or Very Mad

Not tried it on track yet as i'm all bloody flued up ... Always respect your oppinion Alberto .... From what I have seen so far a huge efforts has gone into recreating all the skins and someone has spent hours and days on the Ui makes it look like a completely different game so hats of to them for that work alone ....

They are certainly good in the marketing side of things, but when you hype a work this much, you'd better be good in all aspects. Like movies that are over-hyped and people leaving the theater are often like meh.
It was certain from the beginning it'd look great, but with physics issues, it's just another screenshot making mod - which would be ok if the mod wasn't hyped as a godsend.

I think that Carl meant that the mod had raisen expectations too much and it was predictable that in the end it would not be as perfect as everyone expected, even dissapointing in some aspects. Not that your comment was predictable ... in fact he was agreeing with you as I understand his post Smile

I tried it and to be honest I think it's pretty good Smile

I tried several cars (Jaguar XJR5, Ford C100, Porsche 956, 936C, Dome, Nimrod and Cougar) on several tracks (Road Atlanta, Donington, Spa, the new Kyalami) and I'm pleasantly surprised by the physics. The cars are all very different, very lively (except for the 956 with is so stable it's kinda boring, I prefer our version ^^). They grip in high speed turns and slide in slow turns, they understeer quite a bit, they sway under braking ... As I'd expect !

The only car I had problem with is the Cougar, it's not stable at high speed, and indeed you can't change anything about it, so you have to deal with it by taking it very carefuly through high speed curves. I guess they just wanted the car to behave like that, because it's true some cars were really unstable. I don't know about the Cougar tho, I think it used to be a pretty decent car. But I know the Dome was a demon in top speed at Le Mans (faster than the 956s) but something like 20s a lap slower because the car couldn't stick to the road.
I didn't had any problem keeping the car on the road in straight line scratch

Some other issues :
- With the Jag even with the lowest tape setting, the engine overheats.
- I never could get proper heat into the tires, always stuck around 80-85°C, even on a front left killer track like Road Atlanta.

I agree with Gui, in very impressed with the physics, Regarding the cougar, i look up it mugello 1983 results and it was 25sec a lap slower than the Porsche 956 in qualifying, infact even some C2/Junior cars were faster. So perhaps the car was poor and very unstable.

Interesting mod, the physics make some of the cars pretty unstable. The cars are all very different, that turbo whine is just fantastic though! Very Happy

Jag's not the only one from my experience - I found the WM P86 to overheat too Sad

Love every aspect of it, the music, sounds and cars all perfect and so immersive , absolute wonderfull!
the driving well, its mindblowing , specialy the unguided rockets on the mulsanne straight with there inferiour downforce
the porsche 930 is easy to dial in with more rear camber en less front you can drive it real hard on the throttle without the ass too wide like in reality

Yeah, maybe. As a first impression, I believe that a range of +/- 25% in all settings should work well enough and never change the base personality of the cars. For example, for a car that has a spring of 100, give it a range of 75-125. With an excel table where you input current values and get what you need to directly script it, calculations should be pretty straightforward. Of course someone with programming knowledge could automat the whole process and make it easier to update (I think the VLM guys worked with automated stuff, given some of the values seen there).

finally got in some laps today (had to shrug aside some texture errors and whatnot before hitting the track)-this mod is just incredible.

The skins, the sights, the sounds....Enduracers need to take somes notes.


Drove the BMW M1 and Jag XJR-5 and found them both easy and manageable on defaults at Brianza (Monza layout).

And the authenticity of the mod-I mean these guys are truly sim-racers, but they are clearly sportscar racing fanatics as well. To do cars such as the URD, GRID and Dome for this mod is just incredible, for these cars had a verey minor role in sportcar racing.


Just painstaking detail....too bad it didn't come around two years ago.

But that being said when it is right it is right....and this is RiGHT!!!!


Would love to see the Lancia Beta Montecarlo, Ferrari 512, Group 5 BMW M1, and Porsche 924 GTR made available...

And I think NASCAR stockers also ran at Le Mans in 1976.... :cowboy:
