Of course it is better to use DX9!
Use DX7 makes sense only for very weak computer.
However, your situation James I'm a little confused, you have an error occurs loading 956 in DX9 mode?

I race on a laptop-not sure what setting I am currently using. I'll check and see later when I am at home.

Thanks Vadim!

Have to repair my computer first and level up on my skinning skills! I'm rather mediocre, very slow, but can make some okay stuff. Just don't hold your breath. pig

Theoretically they could have made a separate category for Procar with the M1s, but the truth is that the physics are unsuited for that. The cars are in endurance racing specs and much slower at normal tracks than the Procars were.

You sure? I thought the Procar series was something to do while the car was homologated for group 4 races - it just happened to become a huge hit, an instant classic. I know there's only one spec of M1 in the mod, but that is surely the best M1 there's ever been for rF. Love driving it - and some more skins could not hurt it. Smile

EDIT: also, I want to paint the IMSA Sauber C7. And Rothmans 930's (Dakar livery, just for funs).

I Revisited the BMW M1 Procars V2.0 mod at the weekend and i have to say we did a bloody fine job with the mod i would have no interest in repainting every skin all over again after taking so long to paint them the  1st time , I Don't think you will find any skins missing from the procar series either Wink

In my Opinion it still looks cool too . cheers

Procar mod is still one of my absolute favourites. I did some races with those cars in another league and they were awesome.

Was thinking skins, but I've always been interested in modelling a few cars so maybe I'll look for a tutorial and have a try

If you want to start understanding modelling concepts and do some little things for rFactor, you can use Zmodeller 1.07

It's an old program but very easy and intuitive to use and there are many tutorials out there. You will need later a converter because it only outputs the old F1 2002 format, but you can use Sim Editor from David Noonan for that.

There is also a more modern version of Zmodeler which I believe you have to buy (No longer freeware) and many people have built full cars with it. Again lots of tutorials out there.

But if you want to get serious, you should really start with something more complex and polivalent, even if freeware, like Blender.

Zmodeller is good for specific car-related things within small/medium poly counts, anything up from there you have to go to the heavyweights like 3D Studio Max, Blender, etc.

Pick your poison What a Face

I misundestood Wink But for 3D modelling, I advice to begin on 3DS Max yes Smile and not begin on a model for a game Smile

Learning 3D modelling on a High Poly model is the first step. (There are a lot of tuto Smile )
After that, just "need" to learn to use group smoothing and mapping. First is easy and the second :D.

I know only one 3D modeler who like to do mapping, but I hate that :D

If you paint some cars, you can send to me and I add them to V1.1 Smile

EDIT:
Not specific to rFactor (High poly model)

Specific to rFactor (but not completed and in French)
