- The series is free and open to all HSO members.

- As with all HSO races, nicknames are not allowed on the server, whether in training or during a race meeting.
- See this post to edit your rFactor 2 player name easily.

HSO Standard Car Attribution Rules :

- Drivers have one week to post their three (3) favourite choices of car in order of preference (for instance : 1. Lotus 2. Ferrari 3. Ligier).

- At the end of the one week period, admins take a couple of days to decide on the field, trying to grant everybody one of his wishes will still aiming at a balanced field in performance.

- If more drivers than cars available (29) submit wishes, drivers without a car will be put on the waiting list and will be first in line to take over a car given up by its original driver.

Please book your car in the dedicated thread.

Points system

- Points for the FIA World Drivers' Championship are awarded to the first six classified drivers, on the following scale : 9-6-4-3-2-1.

- Only drivers having covered at least 90% of the laps covered by the race winner will be classified.
- Whenever 90% of the total number of laps results in a number with decimals, the decimals will be disregarded.

- The season is split in two half-seasons (7+8 races).
- Only a driver’s best four results in each half-season will count.

- Two drivers tied in final points will be split by the quality of their race finishing positions.

- The FIA Formula 1 Constructors’ Cup uses the same points scale, with two cars per race allowed to score for each constructor, and no half-seasons nor dropped scores.

PostSubject: Chatting   1979 Formula 1 - Rules Icon_minitimeSun 19 Jan 2020 - 1:05

A quick note to be specific about chatting during a race weekend and general behavior:

During warmup/practice please minimize chatting, even when in 24/7 mode before a race weekend. Asking detailed questions should be handled here on the forum. Things like “Hi XXX” or whispering “sorry” when you punt someone into a wall is OK in warmup on race days. It is not acceptable in qual or a race.

During qualifying and during the race chatting is unacceptable. If you get totally slammed and screwed into a wall during the race complain on the forum (here) not in the race. Tattoo this to your brain. Do not chat during the race or qualifying. Not even “Hi

Why? Many of your opponents, even the slow ones, spend a lot of time and drive on the edge even when slow as growing grass. Chat messages will definitely distract your opponents and this is unfair therefor unacceptable.

Also note, /w messages that are sent as nastygrams or unwanted spam to another racer are equally unacceptable to open chats. If the recipient of the chat is still in the race or qual this will be handled like other chats.

Will one mistaken chat result in a hanging/execution? No way. Could a long drawn out argument after a crash between two opponents while everyone else is still racing and removing car parts from their tires result in a hanging/execution? You bet your a$$.

The time of “Post race XXXX admin decisions” and penalties like one race suspensions are over. If you drive like an asshat on a regular basis you will be removed from the series or HSO. Making mistakes is not being an asshat. Plowing into people over and over, driving a 3 wheeled car and almost causing a wreck, driving backwards, reading your favorite book via chat in a race, blatantly wrecking an opponent, or just general asshattery will earn a very impolite removal.

In summary: This is HSO, and we typically drive historical mods. There will be many times you drive a car too slow to win on speed alone. You need to race yourself and set your race goals based on doing better than your car should do. You must focus on finishing and doing so respectfully with your opponents. Don’t chat in the race or qualifying. Don’t be an asshat. Follow those two simple rules and you will be loved here win or lose.

By the way, about pit stops:

I think I notice the fastest time for a pit stop is around 13-15s for this mod, which seems to be the standard time and a bit too quick in my opinion.

Fastest pit stops I see IRL is around the 20 second mark, without major issues maybe up to 30s.

I tried it out today both with and without VR. I like it a lot, the atmosphere is perfect. One thing I noticed is that especially in the corners if you get off track there are small curbs or fences (not sure what) which can catch and throw the car and its race over immediately. Not sure if that is by design or some sort of modeling issue.
