1971 FIA Formula One World Championship

1971 FIA Formula One World Championship - Rules F171rules

F1 1971 Mod

For this championship we will use the HSO F1 1971 Mod for Automobilista. You also need the following updates Patch V1.02 & Patch v1.1

Car Selection

If a full-time car becomes vacant during the series, it is offered during a 24 hour period, and everyone interested asks for it. The interested driver who has the most starts in the series gets the car. In the event two or more interested drivers have the same number of starts, the one who asks for it first gets the car. If nobody asks for it during the 24 hour period, the car is then offered on a first come, first serve basis until it is picked up (this process dispenses with the waiting list system used in previous series). An HSO member can only switch full-time drives once during the series. Admins retain the right to approve additional full-time drive moves due to exceptional circumstances.

For certain exceptional cases we can allow sharing a car between two drivers, i.e. they are free to arrange between themselves who drives at each event.

If a full-time driver declares himself/herself absent for a race, their car will be available for said race as a one-off drive. One-off drivers cannot switch from one car to another once they have made a selection for a particular race. Similarly, full-time drivers already confirmed for a particular race cannot abandon their full-time ride for a car that suddenly becomes available after the fact. Drivers with a secure full-time drive are not allowed to jump into another full-time drive that happens to be open at a particular race, unless they are switching to that car full-time or abandoning full-time driving in favour of one-offs. An HSO member can only drive a maximum of three different cars as one-offs during the series. If a full-time drive is vacated awkwardly close to a particular race, the admins may choose to offer the car as a one-off for said race, then reallocate it as a full-time drive after the race is complete.

Due to the high amount of interest in the F1 71 season we are running, and in the benefit of adequate preparation of races by one-off drivers, we have decided to introduce a new rule.

Any full time driver who has not confirmed his presence 24 hours before a race (7PM CET on the Saturday) will no longer be able to enter it, and his car will be made available as one off for that race. Those additional one-off cars will thus be announced at 8PM CET saturday before the race.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

A full-season driver missing one race without any explanation on the forum will have their car freed and made available for someone else. If a full-season driver is absent for two races in a row or four races in total, they will lose their drive, even if they declare their absence each time. Under no circumstances can a driver have their name attached to more than one car at a time (i.e. driving a one-off car one weekend while at the same time having a full-time drive booked in advance for subsequent races).

Championship Rules

The championship will be run over eleven rounds; most races will be roughly 200 miles in length.

Points System

Driver points are awarded to the top six finishers in each race according to the following chart.

Position
1st
2nd
3rd
4th
5th
6th
Points
9
6
4
3
2
1

Constructor points follow the same scale, however, only the best placed car from each manufacturer is eligible to score points. The best five results from the first six rounds and the best four results from the last five rounds count towards the constructors' championship total.

Qualifying

A two-hour qualifying session will determine the race grid. The amount of starters allowed will vary from race to race, so the starters allowed will be declared in each race thread.

Event Schedule

All meetings will be held on Sunday nights (all times given as CET)

19:00 – Qualifying Session (120 minutes)
21:00 – Drivers' briefing and warm-up
21:10 – Race Start
Server Name : Historic Simracing F171
Server IP : 91.121.135.76:34597
Server Password : hso71

Tyre and Pit Return Rules

Each driver is limited to 3 sets of tires over the full race weekend.

Return to pits will be set to realistic. This means if you press ESC while out on circuit, your return to the track will be delayed while your car is "Towed" back to the garage. To have the smallest delay possible, you must return to the pits and press ESC in your pit box.

Race Start Procedure

Each race will feature a formation lap, followed by a re-grid and standing start, bar the Nurburgring where we will go straight into the race start.

Training Server

A training server running the next scheduled track will be online for one week prior to each race.

Behaviour on track

A few behaviour rules :

- as for all HSO races, it is required you use your real name both in-game and on the forum. Thank you.
- Chatting is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in race session. It is allowed in qualifying sessions for technical issues only.
- Drive Through : If a driver has to do a drive through, even if there is no pit lane speed limit, he has to drive through the pitlane at 100km/h max (60mph). If he doesn't respect this, he will get a 30s penalty at the end of the race.
- If you have a spin on the course, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure the track is sufficiently clear before you rejoin the race.
- Respect the red condition at the end of the pitlane.

Application and Interpretation of the Regulations

The admins alone are qualified to solve any problems raised by the application and the interpretation of the present regulations.

Merci d'avance  Wink

You can remove the AMS Beta files yes, but uninstall it via steam.

:flag:

Yes we will be using that in the qualifying sessions and warmup. We want to stop people doing do or die laps needlessly.

Oui, c'est la règle pour la saison  :top: Nous voulons empêcher les gens de faire des tours suicidaires et recommencez avec la touche ESC. Le réalisme augmente quand vous devez prendre soin de la voiture.  Smile

Small Suggestion,

On the race thread, you might point out the number of cars that will start as well as the number of cars that are entered.

That's a good idea. People waiting, will know if all seats are confirmed for event, or how many still in gray area

We have how many will start the race, next to the race distance in laps.

As for how many are entered, but it would only be posted after on a Saturday evening before the race or when everyone has confirmed. @Brian, you're one of the two who hasn't confirmed. When you and Philippe do we will have a full entry list.

OK I Confirmed being present on race thread. :top:

But still think Jason's idea is pretty useful for hopeful/waiting driver entrants
Gives a reason to keep checking thread and makes clearer

Available cars... same as current, with image of car

List of car entries below... same as current EXcept ALL cars listed,
Confirmed Present = driver name after.
Unconfirmed = no driver name after.

On Saturday, cars with no driver become available

I know making small tweak to format always sounds easier than actually implementing, especially as admins been very busy lately!
Anyway, thanks

This is a time of joy and happiness. Not one for writing. I have thus saved this one post to speak briefly to you about the mammoth job the creators of this mod have accomplished. And to profoundly thank them for it.

Simracing is not a concern of any one sim. As simmers, we love and enjoy all the good mods and sims, the hard-core ones and the slightly more leisure oriented ones, the graphic jewels and those with physic engines like powerhouses, the new and the older, the famous and the unknown. Whenever a mod provides us with the pleasure that this mod can provide, its makers deserve praise and our recognition.

I loved this mod from the first time I turned a wheel with a decrepit March 701 at Kyalami. I loved the same 701 at Paul Ricard and promptly poured me a pastis.

I was a bit set back when I started driving the Ferrari. Contrary to the March 701, I did not immediately connect with the car. It felt like there were layers of cotton balls between my steering wheel and the car.

Then, as I practised for Zeltweg, Monza and Mosport, the mod showed me its true greatness. The car started growing on me. And I gradually got a bit faster, which is still slow, but that is not the mod's fault. Still, I have never felt more at ease at Mosport, in any sim or any car, then yesterday with the Fezza.

The true greatness of this mod suddenly hit me straight in the face. Regga, Ickx and Mario were probably not at ease in the car straight away. But they needed some adjustment. This mod has found a way to simulate that learning curve. I can only think of GPL to have done the same.

It is a true work of art, this mod. And then I have not even mentioned the sound of the Ferrari.

Thank you makers of this mod, for this great gift that will stay on my HD for a long time.

Timo

Thank you Timo for those kind words, i am positive Richard W will take great pleasure from reading them.

You mentioned something very true in the Ferrari that you have been driving, neither Ickx or Regazzoni felt truly comfortable in the 312/B2, hence they would fight over racing the 312B or the 1970 car, Ickx usually got his way and was given the 1970 T car.

It's a great thing when we get positive feedback like this and for me it makes the hard work worth it.

Thank you for your words indeed Timo, and i am very glad you enjoy our work :chinois:

Its indeed a lot of work, but we strive here to accomplish something that is very rare these days in sim racing: complete recreation of full championships or golden eras of our beloved sport.

For me, nothing can top looking down at a complete list of cars of a particular championship, and i am glad that our members feel the same Smile

Right on!!! I've said things along these lines before.
We can spend countless hours on setups and practice for any given track. BUT, It's absolutely NOTHING compared to the work done before we even grab the wheel by the mad modders behind the scenes.
