Was hoping it would be a more Indy specific award, thus everyone taking part for the first time would be eligible


It might be hard to tell if someone intents to pit and isn't trying to block or defend the inside line to T3, depending on the draft the following car is getting.

If you're having to defend that low, maybe you should let them have the position, you'll be able to get it back in the draft.

I am sorry that it sounds like I am questioning the intent of the competitors, but you never know I've seen enough by now to think that it might happen.

There's a small patch of sand on the infield at the backstretch. Not sure Jason wants to defend that far down.

Additional Awards **UPDATED**

In addition to the Gary Bettenhausen Memorial Trophy, which will be sent to the race winner, there are two other "informal" awards that will be given during the Month of May.



After the race, the HSO admins will give the Jigger Award to the driver who experiences the hardest luck during the Month of May.
The award is named for Jigger Sirois, the real-life first recipient in 1969.  The history of the award can be viewed here.


 
Also after the race, the Rookie of the Year will be named by the HSO admins.
Those eligible for the award are drivers with no HSO career starts before 2017.


 
We are also introducing the Bob Wilson Award, which will be given to the most sportsmanlike driver.
Criteria for this award will be:
- clean and safe driving
- courtesy to other drivers
- sharing setups and providing setup help
- friendliness and joyfulness on the forum and track that enhances the experience for everybody
