1988 CART PPG Indy Car World Series - Schedule

Yeah, because most kart tracks are built on private grounds I believe. But I am not sure what the regulation there is exactly.

Hillclimbs, Rallies and Slaloms are allowed because only circuit racing is banned.

I believe karting is not banned because the restriction applies only to automobile and motorcycle circuit racing, and karts are not automobiles, technically.

Isn't Swiss still banning auto racing from the sole reason of 1955 Le Mans Disaster?

Yes it is the original reason, and many other countries such as France or Spain did the same but it only lasted a few weeks or months. Another ban on racing in France took place in early 1974, a rather demagogical decision by then PM Pierre Messmer in order to save fuel in the wake of the energy crisis . Turns out racing cars used something like 0.05% of the country's fuel, and seeing how his decision did more arm than good (many teams, manufacturers and sub-contractors faced bankrupcy) it only lasted a few weeks.

Sadly, our automotive industry is like non-existing, the Monteverdi Museum in my hometown even shut down for good at the end of last year.

They are present at the Geneva car show, but some of the remaining cars will go tho the museum for transport in Lucerne while other stuff might get auctioned, not sure.

It's like these "eco-terrorists" and green politicians think they'll save the world with that, yet who cares about small Switzerland? Not to mention it's the same as you mentioned Frank: Racing would only be a tiny percentage of it, if they want to be "green", they should ban all these trucks passing the Gotthard tunnel each day! But no, they deliver these Zalando packages and other goods, no way in hell we could do that!

Keeping the correct order was very important last year in the USAC series because of the changes in the rules mid-season, but in CART 88 that is not as relevant as long as the engine evolutions timing is respected, which it still is with this schedule.

Does the moving of rounds also reflect in the entry list? So, if one team entered a car with a Judd engine, but then ran the Cosworth next round, did you take that into account and switch the car around?

This for example targets the Hemelgarn Racing cars.

Also, Gordon Johncock raced the #71 at Pocono, but for Granatelli instead of the Hemelgarn as they didn't compete there.

It's slightly confusing to find that specific entry under Hemelgarn Racing, is there a game limitation as the reason that it wasn't placed with the other Granatelli entries, even if it was just one race?

My best guess is that it was intended to be a full-time ride(as it is) and to make things less confusing, it's kept in the same place as the Hemelgarn entries.

Gordon Johncock is listed as driving #71 at Pocono for Hemelgarn. Scott Brayton also drove for them.

As you can see in the menu, the cars are round specific. There is a separated car for each driver for each specific track/event, with the correct chassis/engine/livery combo.

When we do the races, the server will be set to filter them. So you will only be able to join with the correct car, but no worries as the server will automatically select it for you. For example if you are in game with the #20 Lola T87 and join the server for the Phoenix race, the game will load the #20 March 88C automatically and that is the car you will have online.

Gordy was a STP sponsored driver so he probably brought some STP sponsorship with him to Hemelgarn.
He also drove the car at Michigan, Jason grabbed an image from the TV footage.

I don't know their car choice(the social party lady here got herself a Tesla to look like she cares about the environment even though the production of the car and especially the batteries is already very non-ecological), but they are hypocrites anyway.

Motorsport for them is polution while truck traffic is just... necessary cargo delivery and nobody seems to mind.

Yet they blow out a lot more emissions than racing cars at events would, if you look at how many days either vehicle is circulating.

Green party here is just the same m8,more pollution comes from there mouths than any car

David, we're not going to delay a race a month just for you.   That's not a reasonable request.   Sorry.

Well, I get it.

But as I wasn't expecting the series to hit trouble like this, I planned ahead to make sure I was free. Thus I was okay to miss WEC when I could do the CART rounds. And after all, this isn't just some WEC event, it's the Indy 500.

That's why it feels like a nightmare coming true, with qualifying and testing alternatives possibly being in vain


I guess I am the only one that will be on the road to Le Mans?
