Behaviour on track
- as for all HSO races, it is required you use your real name both in-game and on the forum. Thank you.
- Chatting is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in race session. It is allowed in qualifying sessions for technical issues only.
- Drive Through : If a driver has to do a drive through, even if there is no pit lane speed limit, he has to drive through the pitlane at 100km/h max (60mph). If he doesn't respect this, he will get a 30s penalty at the end of the race.
- Shortcuts : If a driver gains a position after shortcutting a turn, he is required to give it back as soon as possible. In the case where a driver would not do it rapidly, a 30-second penalty will be added to his total race time. In the event of abusive and intentional shortcutting, severe sanctions will be applied (up to definitive a ban from the league). To make sure you never shortcut a turn, try to always keep two wheels on the track.
- Respect the red light at the end of the pitlane.

If you want to get inspired ahead of Portland, don't watch the 1998 race! Many terrible moves in that race, watch the 1993 race instead - that one is awesome.

1997 was great too ! But a lot of the 1997 races were great anyway

IIRC the original plan for CARTFACTOR was to do the 1997-99 period, but the effort was too big apparently.
From 96-97 I liked the old (original) Homestead quad-oval configuration, after they changed it the track lost a lot of personality (IIRC the only 1.5 mile quad.oval around?), even if passing was easier and safer.

They started 99 indeed. It would have made short oval races interesting, with the speedway ovals on tracks like Nazareth Homestead was unique, but dangerous (worse than Indy as it's just 1.5 mile) and the races were boring.

Watch 1996 again. Greg Moore's debut, and what a debut...!

I'm in with my #33
EDIT:
This track isn't fast, it's too narrow, it's nearly impossible to pass except for the chicane, it actually isn't suitable for Indycars at all. But for some reason, I love Portland ever since I played ICR1/2. And I just did a few laps now and man, it's a BLAST!!! So demanding and exhausting, lovely little bullring. I can't wait for the race.
Portland also gave us one of the best finishes ever
EDIT2: Thank you for those setups, guys. The car handles beautifully
