PostSubject: Logitech G25/G27 Pedals Problem    Logitech G25/G27 Pedals Problem Icon_minitimeWed 26 Feb 2014 - 22:29

I Am finding that the accelerator /Brake  problem I'm having with my G27 Pedals is getting worse so i have been searching the web for a possible solution and After reading several forums and other peoples problems with the pedals it would seem its quite a common Problem ....

I Was wondering if anyone else has experienced similar problems with there G25/G27 Pedals ...
Did anyone try taking there Potentiometers apart and cleaning them as this would
seem to be my next step ...

Just a little unsure at this stage exactly what cleaner/spray to use ...

Well, I've cleaned them a lot of times so far, except I never disassembled them from the support. I never needed to; a small brush can easily clean them in the inside. Check if it has hairs or dust or both  :D

Carl for my elctronics i use compressed air in a can for dust and contact cleaner for the pots works great. I had the same problem thats what i use to clean my pedals and the problem was gone. You can always buy new potentiometers they are really cheap. Hope you get em fixed  :frank:

I did that with my black MOMO some time ago. The definitive solution is to replace that crap with hall effect sensors. I hate pots, they give lots of problems.

If an absolute last resort, I have my old g25 pedals believe still work, could always send them to you. But then postage may out weigh the benefit.

But just an option.  :top:

There's the thing that indicates the center of the wheel. This alone justifies the increase of price.

:D

The G27 was a good base for cheap but quality wheel (~250€) if you just kept the internals and made everything else prettier (Plastics). Like some kind of improved Driving Force GT, instead of insisting in competing in a segment where everybody has already gone one step up (Thurstmaster T300 looks way better for 50€ more).

But, who am I to know what is better for Logitech :smil20:

The worse part for me is that they sold themselves for the consoles. But since the market is there... :smil20:

AC and pCars (which aren't simulations in my view, but that's another story :D ) are on consoles too, that's where money is made. Games follow that trend, Logitech too.

And since games are more expensive on consoles than their PC version, why not try that with a wheel too ?

It didn't take long to be announced, good proof that not much was being done on top of the old G27. Indeed it is just an (even more) horrible looking G27 Rolling Eyes

Quote :
REALISTIC FORCE FEEDBACK
Engineered with dual-motor force feedback, both the G29 and G920 realistically simulate the feel of your car with weight shift, realistic road conditions and tire wear, so you can sense under- or over-steering, traction loss and more. With helical gears modeled after the gearing used in car transmissions, you get exceptionally smooth, quiet and precise steering action. Anti-backlash hardware also keeps the wheel and pedal input tight, to maximize control.
DURABLE DESIGN
Built to last, the wheels feature solid steel ball bearings in the wheel shaft, and stainless steel paddle shifters and pedals. High-quality, hand-stitched leather gives both the look and feel of a high-performance racecar wheel, and ensures a more comfortable and durable user experience. Additionally, built-in clamps and bolt points allow you to securely mount the wheel to a table or racing seat to minimize shifting or wobbling during aggressive maneuvers.
EASY TO ACCESS GAME CONTROLS
For seamless access to racing controls, the D-Pad, console buttons and semi-automatic paddle shifters are conveniently located. On the G29 Driving Force, LED indicator lights tell you exactly when to shift, so you can maintain maximum acceleration without taking your eyes off the track and a 24-point selection dial and plus/minus buttons let you also fine-tune your driving preferences.
RESPONSIVE PEDAL UNIT
A separate floor pedal unit lets you comfortably brake, accelerate and change gears, just as you would in an actual car, and also allows you to maintain a more realistic body position for driving. The nonlinear brake pedal mimics the performance of a pressure-sensitive brake system for a responsive, accurate braking feel. Additionally, both pedal units include a dedicated clutch, so gamers who want to test their abilities can have a truly immersive racing experience.
OPTIONAL DRIVING FORCE SHIFTER
Available as an optional add-on, the Driving Force Shifter is a six-speed manual gear stick with push-down reverse. The Driving Force Shifter features quality construction, with a solid steel gear shaft and hand-stitched leather boot and knob cover. Built-in clamps and bolt points also allow the Driving Force Shifter to be mounted securely.

Well this is exactly what i was talking about some time ago.

The consoles don't bother me much (i think its a valid platform too) but these prices are exagerated to say the least. This technology is already 10 years old, and amazingly the old driving force GT was a lot cheaper than this! the 150 euro market simply disappeared now, and it seems you need to be a wealthy citizen of the developed world to have the privilege to enjoy a good wheel Evil or Very Mad i know that production costs in china went up, but not so much that it bumps the prices this high.

LOL now I know why you have posted little here lately, you were quite busy elsewhere lol!

Fanatec has clearly gone to a mid-upper segment, that has been the tendency with all his latest hardware. I guess they are also into that Apple "premium" marketing style, where they make the users pay more than the item is really worth just to make it more "exclusive".

That said, I have been toying for some time with the idea of making my own set of pedals (For own use, no commercial venture) and even in the simpliest design I could come up, materials alone were already a good amount of money.

You have a point saying there is a market for reasonably priced (100-150 Eur) set of pedals, though. I estimate the G25/27 or the Thrustmasters that come bundled with their wheels to be at most around 50 eur producing price. For 100 bucks more you could add some metal in the key parts and a decent design and sell a helluva of them.

Indeed it does, the only reason i made all those comments was because i knew that the fanatech guy is a lurker there and he would take notice. And sure enough he did! Twisted Evil

I took the chance that my system was down to open the pedals and give them a good cleanup/oiling. And in while doing so i just couldn't get around the fact that apart the more fancy "box" and a bit more metal, they are basically the same system as my first pedals in the T2...
