| CART 1998 ELKHART LAKE For this event, we will use the CART Factor 1.0 mod for rFactor : => DOWNLOAD MOD <= For further informations about this mod, I would recommend you to read its Read Me : http://rld.theracingline.net/cartfactor/readme.htm => DOWNLOAD TRACK <=
Planning ( All times CET, Paris Time )
Thursday June 21st 9:00 pm : First qualifying session ( 2 hours )
Saturday June 23rd 9:00 pm : Second qualifying session ( 2 hours )
Sunday June 24th 8:00 : Warm-up and drivers briefing 9:00 : Race start
Race distance : 50 laps. PASSWORD : hso98 A training server will be running 24/24 with the same password. => HOTLAPS <=
Starting procedure
- Drivers will be placed on the grid according to their qualifying times, - Once you are on the grid, dont move until an admin said "GO" in the game chat. - Then the drivers will start their cars to complete a lap at reduced speed (150 kph max) while maintaining their positions. - The pole-sitter will have to make sure his pace allows the all pack to remain grouped, - On the exit of last turn, drivers will go side by side, on starting grid formation. - When the leading cars will be in starting line, an admin will give the real start of the race by typing "GREEN FLAG" in the chat.
First turn is very tight and slow, be careful, the race is long !
Special orders: - As for every HSO race, drivers are asked to use their real names only, wether in qualifying or in the race itself - nicknames are not allowed. - Chatting is strictly forbidden during the race.

| Just to remember you there will be a 1/4th final match of the Euro that day so those who are planning to watch the game please don't book a car. Juste un mot pour vous rappelez qu'il y a un quart de finale de l'Euro ce soir là, donc ceux qui regarderont le match, merci de ne pas réserver de voiture. | |

I'll have to see the outcome of Group C then, otherwise I will have to release my seat.

| Do we only need to set a lap in one of the qualifications? It seems to me that you only ever do races in Mid-Ohio and Road America. Why? There were more than two tracks on the calendar that year | |

It seems to me that you only ever do races in Mid-Ohio and Road America. Why? There were more than two tracks on the calendar that year Wrong we also raced at Laguna Seca and Long Beach (twice). Of course there are other tracks but most of them are uninteresting or very difficult street courses. Don't get me wrong I'd love to race at Surfers Paradise, Toronto or Belle Isle, but those tracks are either ugly (Toronto), not raceable (Belle Isle) or too difficult for our average skilled drivers here (Surfers). Nobody would like Cleveland, Houston or Vancouver, ovals are a no go, so what's left ? Portland. And yes you don't need to come to both quali sessions.

| Badly optimized FPS-wise (I know, I made the track). Someday I'll do a full update of the track, but I'm pretty sure it won't be raced anyway | |

Well I would certainly like Cleveland or any oval And I don't think that Surfers is actually that difficult for the drivers here. Vancouver is another matter, though

| hi,
sisnce i remembered the 1970 sportcars race at the glen, i came back here and saw this event.
i didnt understand a lot of the cars back then in this 1998 mod, but if it is possible, i would like to race.
is there any difference on the grip / handling and engine (power, fuel, reliability) in these cars? or are all cars the same?

| Hello Jens No the cars aren't all the same. The Reynard is the best chassis, the Swift is also good, while the Penske and the Lola are crap. On the engine side, they are all pretty equivalent, expect for the Toyota, which is lacking power. And for the tires, the Firestones are a bit better than the Goodyears. Yes there is ... Chassis from best to worst: 1) Reynard 2) Swift 3) Lola 4) Penske Tires from best to worst: 1) Firestone 2) Goodyear (take more to heat and last less) Engines from best to worst: 1) Honda 2) Ford 3) Toyota 3) Mercedes (But this one is more fuel efficient) Based on this, see in the "chassis available" thread and pick the best you can ... | |

| Thank you a lot. then, as i like to take care of the tires and got used to not race at the limit, i would take the tires taht last less, except i will find out that i will be krap at the mod so the goodyear takes more to heat, means, you have to push it more to the limit to get the temperature in, and the tire thanks this by wearing off so fast? what a daft tire ! as i care anyways, i wouldve loved if it would last. well, i will look if i can find a chaisss with a mercedes engine. in papyrus it were all the same, but in a brwoser game BATracer.com the merc had most torque, was driveable, so ideal for street circuits and reliable. maybe i can combine the merc with a penske or a lola chassis i will have a look! | |

| Haha, seeing Brundle and Blundell back again. Man this is so great. you guys are fantastic THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that Hogan Racing is a dream. despite i like the names i dont like the pacwest livery. still i will go for pacwest and post it there. maybe i can persuade another driver (the same who crashed our car in the 6 hour race ) to join, but he always states his desinterest in racing. he has practice enough , compared to me anyways... | |
