Wow cheers

Very happy with my races, i won 7th places in the 1st and 6 in the second. Smile

A lot of fight and clean racing, this mod is great! Very Happy

I think my 2nd race is worse than the first.
In the 1st I started very carefully, and I did not make any mistake. Smile
Contrary of the 2nd where I missed few brakings at the beginning .. and at 5to go between the 2 chicanes whereas he slowed down on the outside I send Bernard on the grass (sorry again Bernard).

A very good evening, and a great success this 1st round! :champ:

PostSubject: Re: Round 1 - Zolder   Round 1 - Zolder - Page 4 Icon_minitimeWed 12 May 2010 - 22:45

I have to apologize to Adam, I did not look at the replay but I think my overtaking was a bit optimistic in race 2 and we collided, I hope you car wasn't too damaged Embarassed
The website will be updated with the new series soon, tomorrow I think, sorry no standings tonight Sleep

Otherwise, that was fun, my 2 races were very similar, had a good start, but did a stupid spin in both races while fightint in the lead pack. The rest of the races, I was playing catchup, managed to grab 4th place just behind Jeremy and Sasha, and finished 2nd in race 2, i needed 10 more laps to catch Carlo :slurp:

Anyway, great fun, good clean racing, that was a nice start of the season :conduit: Well done Carlo for the double win !
And thanks to the lapped drivers, who always gave plenty of room for the leaders :top:

=====================

Well, to sum it up...

I have two very different races.
In first I was very cautious and made only one or two smaller mistakes... but the second one, TOTAL MESS.
I think the incident statistics says it all:
1st race: 1
2nd race: 29 (maybe some record?)

In first one finished 7th in second had the speed and should have fight for 5th with Tiago but... happy for 10th. :aie:
I had some contacts with Tiago, Guillaume and others but I think this is touring car racing.Very Happy No regret on any side I believe.

In the end it was close, tough but very funny racing tonight. Thanks all.

PostSubject: Re: Round 1 - Zolder   Round 1 - Zolder - Page 4 Icon_minitimeWed 12 May 2010 - 23:07

So first off I'd like to say these cars, this series, is everything I expected it and touring car racing to be after watching a lot of old DTM vids today Razz lol, really exciting. They look, feel, and race like I expected them to after watching them , I feel really immersed and the racing was really close, bumping and banging but fair, like on the TV. I look forward to an exciting season.

Personally however, once again, I'm quite disappointed with my performance and results. I really don't like Zolder, but I got the hang of it quite well and was happy that I was able to get my M3 to challenge the quite quicker Benz's. Qualifying was hard with traffic and only 10 minutes to work with, but I was very pleased with second even if it was far from my best. The first race started very well, I got to lead the most laps it and was a great feeling to be leading for so long in the M3. After Carlo inevitably passed me though, I made a dumb error and the rear just slipped a bit and kissed the grass with the rear right and it spun me behind Jeremy. I had an intense, TV style battle with him, but ended up just third at the line by a hair. It was a solid battle, worthy of the TV, :top:, but I'm so frustrated I was even there, having made that stupid mistake when I would have had second quite easily.

Race 2 I made a slight adjustment and was feeling even better, even with the 10 kilos added on. I started well, and went back to the lead happily. I felt really good to try and hold on for the win, once I began building a lead and the car was driving really well this time around. Again however something I could have avoided tossed my car around like a rag in the first chicane and that cost me any hope of a good race. Afterwards I was significantly slower, not even reaching 5th in the front straight anymore. I was so frustrated once I dropped to fourth that I let a solid finish go again. Eventually I was able to close up a bit to Jeremy but my braking caught grass and ruined that attempt as well. The race ended filled up with errors, maybe I should have run Mediums, but I held on for fourth.

I really expected more from my first round of action after I was feeling so good going in it. I didn't like Zolder but was driving well and then I let stupid mistakes get in my way. Still though I can't wait for the next round to hopefully rebound at Hockenheim which I like and know much better. At least I'll be neutral in weight now. I'm glad it's 24 races because it's going to be an intense championship so I'm still overall thankful I'm in such an exciting series.

Congratulations to Carlo for an impressive double, the Mercedes is just that bit quicker than the M3 and especially with such good driving as Carlo and Gui displayed today it's a tough thing to beat. Lap traffic was also very professional. Bring on Hockenheim and DTM! Touring car racing is going to be really fun and I hope to represent BMW better!

Yea the Benz is quite clearly quicker than the M3, the Sierra seems to pay too much for it's weight. I mean, in real life for example, this exact race was a double for the Sierra's in 1988. The weight penalties did a lot to keep things exciting between the marques all season but overall the Sierra's power was a very clear factor in the season, with the M3's quick due to their top handling, Mercedes were closely matched with the Bimmer's but I think the M3's were just a hair superior.

We'll see how this season goes, but looking at the times from last season (on all tracks) it seemed as though in the game the Benz's are just a bit quicker than the M3's and the Sierra's are not close enough to the rest.

I hope so too!

I was also looking at the DTM 89 cars in the game and they're even kooler looking and I wonder why we didn't step a year forward to 89 (like PROCAR 79 to 80). I love the rims on the Mercedes' and the painted grills of the Bimmer's, every car looks so mean, it's great.

Salut a tous :hello:
Bravo au podium
J’ai complètement raté mes qualifs. Evil or Very Mad
Very Happy
Smile
Ce championnat s’annonce passionnant ! Very Happy

Like last year, I struggle a lot in this track... Definitely not suitable for me and even worse for the car. The main problem in the Sierra is it's consistency. The car behaves perfectly in the first 5 laps or so. After that the car looses a lot of performance.

1st race: Had a good start and managed to get from 8th to 6th. After a couple of laps saw Gui loosing it at the hairpin  , I tried everything I could, but like I said the car looses a lot of performance and grip after 5 laps so I started to make a lot of mistakes and finished 8th. It is a poor result.

2nd race: Again started well from 7th (helder left scratch ) to 6th. Saw Gui going wide in the 1st turn  lol! . I was 5th but couldn't keep Gui behind me; I went with hards for the 2nd race, but the consistency problem was still there; so a couple of laps later I made a mistake in the braking zone for the 2nd chicane, I tried to re-enter the track as fast as I could and I obstructed Adam in the process, so sorry for that m8. We had a little scrap for 2 laps until he made his 24th error lol! .
5th is a much better result, but the pace was far from the front runners.

I just hope things really turn around, as I have high hopes with the Sierra, considering last year

There isn't a better way to start the season, a double win here was unexpected Very Happy :first: :first:

Did about 200 laps of testing on this track, which helped me a lot to find a good feeling with the car.

In qualy i always found a lot of traffic during my hotlaps, in fact i was only 4th on the grid.

Started both races with mediums on the front and softs on the rear

Race 1:
Got a decent start and kept 4th place, following the leading pack quite confortably.
On lap 2 Gui went wide at T1 and i went through, then i had a nice battle with Jeremy, managing to pass him at T2.
Sasha was 2s ahead, but i had my strength in sector 1 and i always decreased the gap by half a second on it , i finally kept and passed him on lap 13, always at T2.
Then i started to put some gap on him , he spun at T1 and i had 5 secs advantage over Jeremy, and the final 5 laps were quite easy.

Race 2: +30kg mass
Got a very bad start from the pole, lost 4 places and i was struggling in the first 2 laps to warm up the tyres.
Caught JP the following lap and passed him using his mistake in the final chicane.
Then i caught the leading group easily, the 2nd race went quite similar to the 1st, with Gui that went wide at T1,passed Jeremy and the following lap Sasha spun at the 2nd chicane.
So i was in the lead again with 6s advantage over Jeremy, but i kept pushing hard because Gui was hard charging from 3rd place, in fact when he passed Jeremy, was closing the gap a bit, but i managed to keep very consistant laptimes, finishing with 2s adv.

Grats to the podium finishers (Jeremy nice debut in HSO  ) and to all the finishers

Next time it will be harder on a twisty track like Hockenheim club with 60kg mass penalty

See you there! Very Happy
