Had a phonecall about 11'oclock in the morning asking me if i would like a pair of FREE tickets for this event as they could'nt go ...I Nearly wet myself LOL !!!
It was a bit of a madrush as we had no idea up until that point that we where going, in the excitement we forgot the camera as we did'nt have a moment to loose as we needed to get to Silverstone ...
The World Sportscar Race was the highlight for me but it also made it easier for me to pick my car in the forthcoming HSO race .....
The Lola's where definatly the quickest and class of the field
I have read the warnings about picking a car Gui but just incase i dont make it back in time GUESS which car i want LOL !!!
The other thing that was interesting was the reliability of the Alfa's both cars finished the race not as fast as the Lola's although i suspect if it had been a slower track then things may have been different but a beautiful car to watch ....

Wow must have been great indeed Lolas did dominate the races we saw at Magny Cours too.
Did you see the Group C cars ? Sauber C9, Jaguars, Nissans and all ?

Nice Carl, this is one of the best Classic meetings in the World . Main reason for the Lola T70s being so dominant in historic racing is their simple and efficient V8 Chevy engines . Compared to the 3-litre real racing engines of Ferrari, Matra or Porsche it was no match in real life, but you seldom find any of these in top form in historic racing.

New PB in 2.03.1. Done it with the Matra light in fuel. I'm about two and half seconds slower with full tank. Don't know if I can improve that one this time.

Hello,
for those of you who like to get some info on the real race:
- you can find a short report here, just scroll down a bit; - full results of the 1000 km race one week earlier; - and a tribute to a marschall killed during the 1000 km race one week earlier here
One year later, the 1000 km race would also sadly claim the life of Ignazio Giunti in a strange accident whereby Giunti hit the back of Beltoise's Matra that had ran out of fuel and was being pushed by it's driver.
