Well done Pascal on getting pole.
Last week I did my best to copy Dave Walker, this time I did the same with Johnny Rutherford by failing the first attempt and lining up further down the grid than where the car should be. I can’t see myself repeating his win though.

I'll happily take 4th, same place I started when I won the race

I apologize for swearing on forum, but emotions were running high after Windows update messed my first run. It was a decent one, i got into 47,3s, but as i exited T2 for the last time, i got a blue screen saying that an update will start immediately. Needles to say, I wasn't very happy to wait for my second chance for more than 3 hours. On the other hand, I really enjoyed our amazing Broadcast group, it was a pleasure to watch My second run was a bit slower, more conservative, as it was obvious that i simply can't afford to blow it. But starting from row 3 is perfectly fine.
Congratulations to Pascal and especially Martin Lacina, that was a hell of a run!

After your unfortunate Windows Update in your first run, I couldn't help but think of this little picture which describes your misfortune just perfectly:

Somehow, I drove way too conservatively in qualifying. Dunno how I managed to do that, since I had tested just beforehand, averaging 47,7's. So not at all happy. But, 500 miles > 10 miles. Gotta remember that.

I was quite surprised at how the car felt, had not driven a single lap the whole day after being away from home and then joining for the broadcast. With a practice run I could have done much better, but then again it was the same for everybody, so fair enough. In any case, I am delighted about my start position on the inside, wouldn't trade it for any of the middle or outside positions of the rows in front of me

Much to my surprise, I ended up inside 8th row, as I dreaded to barely make the field, and there was still some potential, about 0.5" over four laps. I did some test runs yesterday morning and it didn't really go well for me. I couldn't find the right timing, the rhythm, each corner had about three or four apexes, and I wasn't getting the right feelinging for the car. It was a bit better wenn I joined the server before the session started, but having to wait an hour for my run doesn't really help me, but then, its the same for all. Then I botched my first attempt, I was nerveous like heck, and at the same time, I couldn't get the right feeling for the car. The time I had to wait for my next slot to join the server, I used for some testing. In an attempt to make the car more stable, I added a click more wings, and suddenly, the car was not only lying better, it also got... faster Then i added another click, did some fine tuning, and I could do four laps under 48 seconds, with a best of 47.50. That should suffice, I thought. Then back to the server and another hour of waiting (not good for me to stay in the flow, and already having screwed up one attempt, I was even more nerveous, so the first two laps were very shaky, until I found my confidence, but the next two laps were where I expected them to be. I was still a bit anxious, as I still didn't expect it to be good enough, but then, it ended up better than expected.
Now its time to build a race setup. I still got some unfinished business with Indy

What a great qualifying event. I knew i had to lay it on the line to get a good spot. Had the car in the 46.9s before the q event and just couldn't make it happen in the session. The car felt waaay different might have been my nerves. Congrats Pascal on the pole! watch out the first 3 rows are filled with great drivers. Its going to be a very long race. Congrats to all the qualifiers and hope to see ya guys Sunday on the track!

You had an incredible speed on the straights there, 212 mph clocked at the end! I don't even know how you got it through the turns like that!
Anyways, pole for me? Hell yeah! I'd say it was some difficult approach since I did offline testing before the official server went up and it turned out the Coyote with my "setup" was a complete shitbox. Started from scratch again, small changes at a time, and boom! Almost getting down into 46s.
I actually didn't change a single thing from my setup I created there and then, on the first day. Simply giving the Coyote my trust and pushing just a little bit harder got me down into the 46.8s and, eventually, on pole position! I'm looking forward to the race, may the best car win!

It was the play of the nerves like in me. Same situation. I did right before the qualy run 2 or 3 times 4laps run offline. Almost all the laps was under 47.1 even one of them was slightly bit under 47 but online there was a lot of nervosity and i fight with the car in each corner.

Oops...put this in the wrong thread earlier. Moving it here now.
HUGE for the broadcast team. You guys managed to keep me engaged for over 4 hours. Had no real intention of sitting through the entire proceedings, but it ended up happening that way. Great stuff!
As for me, feels like a victory putting this ole M16B on grid. Sheesh, that was close! I was nervous as all hell that second run (made worse still by the broadcasters who decided my waving off run 1 was a [possibly] bad idea)....self doubt started to creep in, even though I'd been doing the 48 flat range all morning. Stress tends to be an either or for me. Either I excel because of it, or I crack under it, usually no in between. Very happy to have excelled because of it yesterday. Now to get nice and stable and try to be around at the end for a possible decent finishing position.
...love the buildup to this race, and the enthusiasm of the drivers in this league. I say it time and time again, but those combined factors and more set this place apart in a very noticeable way. Really great stuff and very happy to be able to be a part of it.

YouTube has finished processing the Time Trials vid. We have added time codes in the comments section so you can go directly to individual runs, rather than hunting for them

Unfortunately, that modification in the wake of the 1973 event is one of the reasons Mel didn't qualify in 1974. Eventually they found out the cage disturbs the airflow to the rear wing, and when they put the configuration back to the standard Eagle configuration, the time ran away to sort the car out...
