1988 RAC British Touring Car Championship

1988 BTCC : Rules AfficheBTCC88

Touring Car Legends Mod & 1988 BTCC Cars

The championship will use the 1988 BTCC cars available in the Touring Car Legends 1.10 mod for rFactor.
You will also need the sound pack to get all the engine sounds.
And you will need our BMW 635 fix made by Alberto Ibanez :chinois:

Engines sounds can be greatly improved by using this additional sound patch made by Guillaume Siebert from the Touring Masters version of the mod by the RaceDepartment.

The field of 40 entries is divided in three displacement classes (A, B and C) featuring 9 different models of cars :

– Class A (+2500cc) : Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth (12 cars), Toyota Supra 3.0i MA70 (2 cars), Holden Commodore VL TWR (2 cars), Nissan Skyline GTS-R (1 car), Rover Vitesse SD1 (1 car), BMW 635 CSi (1 car)
– Class B (2500cc) : BMW M3 (7 cars), Ford Escort RS Turbo (2 cars), ALFA-Romeo 75 Turbo (2 cars)
– Class C (1600cc) : Toyota Corolla Levin TRD (10 cars)

All the upgrades available are allowed : the 6-speed gearbox for the BMW, the 470 HP Eggenberger engine for the Ford Sierra and the 300 HP works engine on the ALFA-Romeo. The 250 HP Special TRD engine on the Corolla is mandatory.

Cars will be attributed to drivers depending on their respective overall simracing level : the fastest drivers will be restricted to the big Class A cars, the fast drivers to the Class B ones, and the not so fast drivers to the Class C Toyotas. Seeding of the drivers will be done by the admins only. Changing of class during the year will be allowed for drivers who will have proved too fast or too slow for the class they were seeded in.
If a driver should be absent at a given race, his car will not be made available for another driver for this particular race. If a driver misses 2 races in a row without any explanation on the forum, his car will be freed and made available for someone else to book for the remaining of the season.

Championship Rules

The championship will be run over 13 meetings, each hosting a race of 25 to 35 minutes, preceeded by a 50-minutes qualifying session.

Event Schedule

All meetings will be held on Wednesday nights (all times given as CET).

20:00 – Qualifying
20:50 – Warm-up and drivers’ briefing
21:00 - Race start

Race server password : hso88

Starts will be given standing on the grid, after a formation lap.

Points System

All cars finishing the race will be eligible for championship points.

The best six finishers in each class will receive the following points : 9-6-4-3-2-1. There will be one bonus point for the driver having made the fastest race lap in each class as well.

A class having less than 5 cars starting the race will receive the following points : 5-3-1 to the first three, with one bonus point for class fastest race lap.

Only one overall championship combining the drivers of the three classes will be held. Only the best 12 out of 13 possible results will be taken into account for each driver at the end of the year. The driver with the most points at the end of the season will be declared 1988 RAC British Touring Car Champion. Drivers with the same amount of points in the final standings will be split by the quality of their race finishing positions.

There will be no Manufacturers’ or Teams’ Championships.

Training Server

A training server running on the next scheduled track will be online permanently. Password : hso88

Behaviour on track

A few behaviour rules :

- as for all HSO races, it is required you use your real name both in-game and on the forum. Thank you.

- Chatting is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN in race session. It is allowed in qualifying sessions for technical issues only.

- Drive Through : If a driver has to do a drive through, even if there is no pit lane speed limit, he has to drive through the pitlane at 100km/h max (60mph). If he doesn't respect this, he will get a 30s penalty at the end of the race.

- Shortcuts : If a driver gains a position after shortcutting a turn, he is required to give it back as soon as possible. In the case where a driver would not do it rapidly, a 30-second penalty will be added to his total race time. In the event of abusive and intentional shortcutting, severe sanctions will be applied (up to definitive a ban from the league). To make sure you never shortcut a turn, try to always keep two wheels on the track.

Application and Interpretation of the Regulations

The admins alone are qualified to solve any problems raised by the application and the interpretation of the present regulations.

I have a quick question - do we count the curbs as 'the track'?

Say for example I have two wheels on the curbs and two wheels off the track (some tracks call for some cheeky corner cutting, last chicane at Suzuka for example), so that wouldn't count as cutting, or are we calling the track 'anything between the white lines', in which case it would?

It's one of those things that is quite ambiguous, so I thought I might as well ask.

Depends on the track, depends on the curb I guess. Anyway usually when a track's layout allows abusive cutting over the curb at a chicane for instance, we'll add some titanium tyres to prevent any shameful stuff by the gentlemanly challenged ones.

I did a patch that fixes the online 635 problems (When the 635 is online and the player leaves it crashes the server for the rest of players), but I don't see it for download so I was just asking. I'm afraid your 635 will stay as quick as it is now Smile
