WIP-Circuito de Vila do Conde

Don't get me talking about rich people ruining racing....

Just one example; some stupid construction entrepeneur decided to build some condos behind a kart track known as "cabo do mundo".... Some even more stupid rich people decided to buy their house in there... "oh dear, how nice to live here behind a noisy kart track, but at least we can see the sea.... delicious".... how stupid can people be?????

It was a matter of only 2 months for them to sign a petition to forbidd kart racing in there, and more.... they won...

I usually went there with a friend of mine and his Birel Kart (amazing machine), so he was forced to sell it and the track founded some 30 years ago by Figueiredo e Silva's dad (now it's Figueiredo e Silva himself running the business, both were professional drivers) is having a hard time because those filled pockets, empty brained retards decided to buy a house.....

Yeah much like what happens when some constructor decides to build houses close to the airport and then suddenly they wake up and say, hey it's awfully noisy here!

Anyway, that's a photo of a beautiful potuguese "Nao" David (Que nosotros copiamos y llamamos Carabela ), I sailed a lot in my youth and love the sailing ships. What I would give to sail in of those big frigates and Naos that still exist today, well preserved like that one!

Not "Nao" Alberto, but "Nau" and we also had "Caravelas"

Naus and Caravelas were different kinds of ships

... yep, but this one its allmost new.
They made it in memory of those times, but she is smaller then the real deal was

I could be more pedantic on the 3d, but I'm afraid of the fps impact... When I put all the objects on the track at once and test it... I'll see.
If it runs fast, I might get crazy on improving the details.
For now I still gave to remake the factory and the church... they are just not as realistic has they should. Specialy the factory... its much bigger.. also the park, but that I've already sorted.

Also maybe spectators photos and such (all from 70's era).

Because then I'll still have to use the alpha channel to «cut» the persons... I have so much to do, that I am loosing a lot of time to find pics; and then on editing them.

If I understand it right, what you want is a TGA with Alpha channel and spectators on it?

Individuals, or several people together?

I kind of need both.. individual and group.
It would be awesome if they are already «cutted» in png. But if not its ok, I'll do the «cut»

As you know, I've been working on the grandstands and putting peole on them its taking so long...
In the mean time I've remade the Church, because it was't close to reality.
This time is also scaled to reality.

You see? the other model was shit. Now I'm on doing this realy on a way that, if you guys one day come to Vila do Conde, you will be able to know even where to go for praying before the race, or do your grocery shopping

That's exactly what I'm aming for. I mean I'll try my best to give a sense of immersion, and reality of what this track was.
I have to talk to that friend of mine, Antonio, who said would make me the Castle in 3d... I'm kind of avoiding that one... cause I'm a newbie, and the castle seems very hard for me... some very hard to do shapes.
My big problem now is:
Should I do the houses on the 2nd straight in 3d? or.... being a fast straight, and the houses all having a wall in front, maybe I would do the walls, and then place 2d images of houses inside
What do you guys think?


P.S. I'm getting allmost impatient to drive the track... now that I have most of the important track references.
Also I've learned how to import height data from google to the track mesh, and I can now import a 3d image of the terrain coloured and everything... I still have to learn to allign them together.

It would be a nice picture of crowd too.

You could include them as "easter egg", why not?

There is a version of Charade for GPL in which you can go off the track and down into a tribute cavern to the Beatles ! There also is a Jimi Hendrix memorial on the original Machwerk !
