| Laurent, try first uninstalling any other version of Hockenheim you might have (Like f.e. from the F1 1979 mod). It has happened with Hockenheim already here that other versions have the same name in the MAS files and the game gets confused. | |

| What is a good time for a Porsche 2.4 at this track?
I'm certain my 2:40 is slow, but it pales horribly with the vette times on the hotlap ticker (~2:20).
Cheers,
James | |

| Would anyone be willing to share some Porsche 2.4 setup tips for this track, especially the brakes? For high speed braking I feel as if I am balancing a serving tray stacked 5 high with crystal champagne glasses-the car is SOOOO unstable..... Thanks in advance... | |

| @James:
Be sure you selected the proper upgrade in the car menu, you should have the game do heel and toe for you if you feel each time you downshift it unstabilizes the car. Other than that, this is what will help you brake better and be more stable in the long straights:
- Increase rear slow rebound - Increase front slow bump - If the car darts when braking hard over bumps, reduce both high speed bump and rebound in the front - Reduce toe out in the front - Increase differential coast - Lower streering lock if you feel the steering touchy at high speeds and shimmering under braking - Be careful with braking balance, start by adjusting it so that fronts lock well before rears, then adjust the suspension until you are happy and only finally start moving bias to the rear until the car starts being unfomfortable to brake hard from high speeds.

| Well, I could only practice yesterdey for 15 mins. in Hockenheim by mistake... For what I can remember, I was using 4-4 on fast bump and rebound. The trick is to set the springs on a way that you get the car stable on the fast corners and heavy braking. I'm still not 100% confortable with the setup. I went for soft springs because of the big curbs, but then I lost grip on fast corners, I have to complemment with better shock absorbers tunning I guess. Also, I use more camber on the left side (+2clicks) Tip: If when you brake hard on a straight, and the rear whants to go sideways, you have to move the brakes forward, try in 1 click at a turn, then try what Alberto says about weight transfer with the dampers. Tell me when you can be on the server, and I'll try to help you and share my setups. | |

Hello James brakes for me 56 / 44 98%
and 4.64:1 for the gear box Thank you Jean-Louis. Your 2:22.xx is very enviable!!!! Any chance you know your sector times? I am currently at 4:33:1 and 59/41 90%. I will try your settings. Are you using the deafult rev limit of 8436rpm? I would be close to redline in 5th with the 4:33 final drive. Many thanks, Jean-Louis....

Tell me when you can be on the server, and I'll try to help you and share my setups. Yes-practicing here is difficult. The lap is long and the tires only get to temp after a full lap, it seems. Then back to the garage, adjust, etc etc. I went to the track with defaults (3's on bumps and rebound) and had the rear quite soft on springs. I am using a bit of curb on the exit of turns sometimes-perhaps to my disadvantage? Your suggestion for my camber on the left is a good idea-I will try that-thanks. I keep hoping to take the fast sweeper on the back straight flat-but I cannot do it. Either a big lift or dropping a gear is necessary and the car slooooowly drifts to the outside. David-typically I am on the server at 11am Paris time (5am Central time). Saturday and Sunday I can be on anytime from 11am-as late as you wish. Your help is most appreciated-thanks!

| Antoine,
What will be the simulated race time of day?
The long shadows on the back straight are no fun, and the headlamps are not of much use against them..
Cheers,

Présent Normalement, c'est bon, j'ai repassé la session training sur 90mn. Le serveur était resté en mode qualif. - James Knowles wrote:

James I think it will be 2:00 PM. For the shadows, you can disable it, but in real life, shadows, sun, rain, dust are also be trouble elements too.

| I think the tyres can go the whole distance. Average temp of the tyres is about 70 Celsius, and after running about 7/8 laps on the tyres, it remained on the green bar on the car status menu. | |
