Subject: Suzuka setups and replays! Tue 30 Dec 2008 - 21:22
Here's a little present for all the Jaguar and Sauber drivers as we draw closer to the new year - a little setup pack for Suzuka!
Download (Extract to "/Redline GTP/players/Your__Name/setups/Suzuka_GTP") u: letmein p: rightnow
These setups are made by a fellow called Robin Verdegaal, who raced for the Simracing for Holland outfit back in the days of WOSEC, the two first seasons of GTP endurance racing. SFH threw in the towel after the second season in 2006 to focus on other sims, and continue to keep up a very high standard of racing as they did in WOSEC, providing me and my VTR companions with much fierce competition! Simply put, Robin knew what he was doing when he made these setups
The Jaguar setup felt a little understeery at first, but then I realised it was just me who was used to the Toyota's mad oversteer all the time and that it was in fact very well planted. Perhaps a little hairy under braking, but that's easily fixed with a little tweak of brake bias and possibly moving the weight foreward a little.
The Sauber setup, on the other hand, is quite a bit hairier, and might intimidate any beginner from ever loading it up again. Fear not, though! For there are a wide range of little setup tweaks you can make to tame this beast of a car just a tad. Such as adding some rear wing and lowering the track bar (on the Sauber it's set to 3.00, as opposed to 1.00 on the Jaguar). A result of it being more prone to oversteer, is that it feels a lot better through the two fastest corners on the track: Turn 1 and 130R.
Let me know how you get on, and I'll do my best to help you out
p.s. - I won't be releasing any Toyota setups, I'm afraid. I need those for my own keeping

And don't forget to assign them as a permanent profile each time you launch GTP, otherwise they won't be taken into account.
