2020 HSO Gold Star - Rules

The 2020 edition of the HSO Gold Star will have a special flavour to it, as with the switch to rFactor 2 comes a great many opportunities to re-create classic races with tracks and cars seldom, if ever, used before at HSO. Therefore, the 2020 schedule is bound to be much bigger than that of previous years, with many of the races also serving as tests towards a more frequent (as in full championship frequent) use of a mod for next year.

We will also revert to the historic points system used by the BRDC in the 1950s, instead of the fantasy one used the last couple of years. Whatever the points system, the Gold Star remains an award more than a championship, based on the illustrious BRDC Gold Star, and should be regarded as such as it is hard to build a strategy towards winning it other than simply racing in every event (which is obviously greatly encouraged ).

As always, the Gold Star is not restricted to one simulator, and although rFactor 2 will be the backbone of the calendar this year, races on other platforms can and will hopefully happen.


Registration

- The series is free and open to all HSO members.

- As with all HSO races, nicknames are not allowed on the server, whether in training or during a race meeting.
- See this post to edit your rFactor 2 player name easily.


Schedule

- As usual, the schedule for the Gold Star series is not set ahead for the full year. Events will be added as the season progresses, notably with the eventual new mods and tracks that would come out along the year.


Car Attribution

- Due to the nature of Open Events, car attribution system can and will vary from one race to another.

- However, unless otherwise specified in an event's rules, the Free-for-All method (see HSO Sporting Code for details) will be the default one.


Points system

- Points will be awarded on a sliding scale based the duration of the event :

- Only drivers having covered at least 90% of the laps covered by the race winner will be classified.
- Whenever 90% of the total number of laps results in a number with decimals, the decimals will be disregarded.

- In the event of a race run on a two (or more) heats aggregate, only the final aggregate results will be taken into consideration for Gold Star points.

- In the event of a race comprising different classes of cars (as defined by each event's ruleset), each class will receive full points.

- Drivers sharing the same car during a race will all get the full points awarded to the car's finishing position, unless otherwise specified in an event's rules.

- All results will count at the end of the year (no dropped scores).

- Two drivers tied in final points will be split by the quality of their race finishing positions.


The Races

- Open Events for the HSO Gold Star series can be run either on Wednesday or Sunday nights, with usually the shorter sprint races (1 hour maximum) on the former, and the longer ones (from Grand Prix length to Endurance extravaganza) on the latter.

- Detailed dates and times for each race will appear in the rules of the concerned event, although an 8pm start for qualifying and 9pm start for the race should be the matrix for most of the races (all times CET).


Starting Procedure

- Unless otherwise precised in an event's rules, starts will be given standing, after one formation lap.


Server Settings

- A training server running on the next scheduled track will be online permanently.
- Server name : HSO 2020 Gold Star
- Server password : will change with each event.

- Time scale : x1
- Fuel usage : normal
- Tyre wear : normal
- Damage mod : 100%
- Flag Rules : full w/o DQ

- Weather : All rFactor 2 races of the Gold Star will use the live time weather plug-in with OpenWeatherMap live time predictions.

Like we said earlier, our plan ultimately is to have our old homemade code to work for rF2, but in the meantime r2la's hotlap feature will do nicely.

Any chance HSO will run some seventies and eighties mods other than F1 1979?

Studio 397 also make the March and Brabham mods that are great to drive.
Just some food4thought as you plot the forward for HSO.

The Group C mod is one of our great hopes for the future, and we have a Gold Star race with it to be announced soon. The mod is not complete yet, we're notably waiting on the Jags, but Mike is in touch with the author and by all accounts this mod is not one of those eternal wips so plenty of racing to be had on this one in the future around here .

The stand-alone mods on the other hand are useless to us because we only use full fields for a race and/or championship. Only instances we have used those were in spec series such as BMW Procar or Caterham Cup.

But I hear all the 1970s stand-alone F1 cars are quite popular online though.

Je viens de télècharger "Touring Car Revival.7Z", je l'ai placé dans Package , mais cela ne fonctionne pas; que dois faire ??,

Marc, ouvre l'archive que tu as téléchargé "Touring Car Revival.7Z"
Tu extrait le contenu de l'archive, normalement y'a 10 fichiers dedans, que tu mets dans ton install rF2, dans packages :
/rFactor2/Packages

Donc maintenant dans packages tu devrais avoir TCR_BMW_635_v042.rfcmp, TCR_BMW_M3EVO_v042b.rfcmp, etc...

A cette étape là, normalement les fichiers sont juste positionner à la bonne place.
Maintenant va falloir les installer, et pour ça tu dois passer par ModMgr.

Tu peux trouver cette application dans ton install rF2.
/rFactor2/Bin32ModMgr

Pour t'aider mieux pour les prochaines étapes tu peux me dire sur quel disque dur c'est installé? C: ou autre.
Si tu as installé par défaut le jeux ca devrait être ça:
C:Programmes(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\

je me suis posé la même question, après avoir placé le pack dans le bon fichier "packages".
mai quand je rentrai dans RF2 il ne me le trouvai pas, j'ai contourné en me conectant sur le serveur qui ma forcé le téléchargement.
donc tu dis qu'il faut allez sur "Bin32ModMgr" ?!
et la tu fais quoi ?, je viens d'y rentrer c’est vide, c'est normal ?  
après pour l'instant tout est installé.

Le mieux et plus facile, est quand même de se servir du téléchargement automatique par le serveur...au moins, c'est sur, c'est au bon endroit et c'est le même fichier !!

@Christian Je suis d'accord, mais le serveur n'étant plus actif, il faut le faire manuellement

Il faut aller dans rFactor2/Bin32/ et tu lances ModMgr.exe
En fait quand tu lances ModMgr, par défaut les chemins sont faux, et donc ne laisse rien apparaitre dans le "tableau".
Donc, en bas à droite, tu peux voir 2 lignes, Working Dir et Packages Dir.
Pour changer le chemin, tu cliques sur B à coté de la ligne désirée.
Là tu pointe la 1ère ligne sur ton dossier rFactor 2. Exemple :
C:Programmes(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2

Pour la 2ème ligne tu pointe sur le dossier Packages. Exemple :
C:Programmes(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Packages

Là tu devrais voir, dans le tableau du dessus, tes mods et components.
Si tu ne vois que les mods, coche la case "components". Et inversement.
Si tu regarde la colonne "installed", les mod et components sont listés en "yes", s'ils sont installés. Et en "no", s'il sont présent dans le dossier package, mais pas encore installé.

Donc pour installer le package pas encore installé , tu le selectionne, puis tu clique sur le bouton  "install" en dessous. Et hop, à l'issue de l'install, son statut devrait passer à "yes" et il est présent exploitable en jeu.

J'espère que j'ai tout bien expliqué. Fais signe si problème.
P.S : Cette façon d'installer est surtout faite pour des contenus non-dispo sur steam. Car s'ils sont disponibles dans le workshop Steam, c'est plus facile de cliquer sur s'abonner. Comme ça il installe tout seul le truc au prochain démarrage de rFactor 2.
