| Subject: *** 2019 HSO SEASON *** Sun 4 Nov 2018 - 20:02 | |
| Hello fellow simracers having gone past the decade of existance in 2018, HSO is now preparing for its 11th season of virtual racing, recreating the historic races and championships from the golden eras of motorsport. After several years of continued strenuous effort from the staff, we head into 2019 with a reconfiguration of our admin team, having recently incorporated Juha Bos, and in the wake of the retirement of Jason White from frontline series admin and modding duties due to real life commitments. Thanks for all your work again Jason! On the technical side, we will be consolidating in 2019 the now well proven Automobilista as the sim of choice for our principal series on Sundays, bringing them to a whole new level thanks to the realistic features it provides. A server upgrade for the best performance is also becoming a necessity, and we are studying options for that with the intention of having the migration completed when the season starts. This is also a reminder for our donations/funding campaign to all our contributors. Racing is and will always remain free at HSO, but any help you can provide to reach the target of 1100 Euro we estimate an improved server will cost will be heartily welcomed, and believe us, it is well needed. And having gone on long enough with this introduction, let us present the main racing series we will be running on Sundays in 2019: 1988 CART PPG Indy Car World Series (All year long):With our main open wheeler Sunday series alternating yearly between Formula 1 and Indycar/CART, next season we will be using what is probably one of the best in-house mods ever produced by HSO. Having already achieved legendary status in rFactor, the amazing looking Indycars modelled by David Sabre and with physics by Richard Wilks now come to AMS featuring real turbo effects in the engine, dirt pick up, flatspots and much more, making for an incredibly realistic experience which will crown the most versatile open wheel driver who is capable of scoring and winning on road courses, ovals and street circuits. Simulator : HSO Indycar 1988 mod for AMSCars : Open-wheel monocoque; 2.6L turbocharged engines ~ 700 HPSchedule : Fifteen races held on Sunday nights, starting in JanuaryRace time: Roughly 2 hours (3 hours on 500 milers)1980 BMW M1 PROCAR championship (1st semester):The Procars are back, with a massive revamp! A new and beautiful 3D model, coming from the Brickyard Legends team mod, coupled with Richard Wilk's physics and new sounds will provide the definitive classic GT experience. With all cars having equal performance, this is a pure driver series where talent will be the deciding factor. Prepare to countersteer this 470HP heavy projectile through the corners, while the most brutal sounding ever straight-six deafens your ears roaring down the straights of Imola, Osterreichring, Avus or the glamourous streets of Monaco on alternate weekends with the 1st half of the CART series. Simulator : HSO BMW M1 Procar mod for AMSCars : GT two seater; 3.5L normally aspirated engines 470 HPSchedule : Nine races held on Sunday nights, starting in JanuaryRace time: Roughly 1 hour1973 JOHN PLAYER SPECIAL FORMULA 3 SERIES (2nd semester):The latest product from the HSO factory, with models by David Sabre and physics by Richard Wilks is coming out to achieve the same fame that previous collaborations like Indycar 88 or Canam already gained. With closely performing cars and small power for the grip, this series will reward both finesse to keep the momentum and assertiveness when driving through a big field of hungry competitors in mythical tracks all over Europe like Monaco, Paul Ricard, Zandvoort, Silverstone, or Mallory Park just to name a few. The series will alternate with the 2nd half of the CART season, and have several double headers where short races in different tracks will take place. Simulator : HSO F3 1973 mod for AMSCars : Open-wheel monocoque; 1.6L normally aspirated engines ~ 130 HPSchedule : Fourteen two-heat races held on seven Sunday nights, starting in JulyRace time: Roughly 1.5 hours adding both heatsHSO GOLD STAR:The classic championship that ties together all opens that take place through the year, this series will still see the occasional rFactor race and crown the most versatile driver all around. Be ready to drive all sorts of racers, from Sportscars to touring cars, ranging through GTs and vintage rides, in massively different circuits and styles of races. Sprints, endurance ... anything is possible in this series. Besides it, and while not counting for points, we will again award this year the informal "US Triple Crown" to any driver capable of winning the three 500 mile events in the CART 1988 series, something that only "Big" Al Unser has been yet able to accomplish in real life. Simulator : AMS / rFactorCars : TBASchedule : TBARace time: TBA

| That looks very interesting, I am looking forward to it, especially the Procars.
I'll pay 10 Euros per month as I promised, so that's 120 Euros through 2019 year.

We can't continue at the same pace we were doing, most of us were getting burned quickly. We love both F1 and Indycar, so in the end we decided to alternate those series each year as main sunday series. But you will have anyway always another series with two races per month on sundays, plus Gold star events (5 over the year) plus wednesday night touring cars.

There probably will be, yes, it's just that those are shorter series that are announced over the year. In the season announcement we focus on the main sunday series, but there is going t6o be more than that.

| Man I'm so intrigued now. CART 88 on AMS sounds great. I've never driven an oval track on AMS. I Cant wait to see the tracks and cars. Hopefully I will have a chance at redemption in the CART series...the first time around wasn't so pleasant lol I've never got a full grasp of these cars or setup hopefully I can get a grip! | |
