Hi, I'd like to ask you a question about modding. I am approaching modding for the first time and I was trying to create a 1987 rFactor F1 mod.
The problem is that I cannot see the car with the tvcockpit camera (picture number 3), even if it's fine with all the other cameras.
Could you help me to resolve this issue? This is a ink to my beta with this problem:

Thanks a lot to all of you in advance!!  Smile

The first thing to check would be the cars .cam file. The .cam file defines all of the settings for the views around the car.
Here is an example of the TVCockpit settings.
Note the line  ClipPlanes=(0.305000, 500.000000) anything less than 0.3metres and further away than 500metres from the camera will not be displayed, they will be clipped out.
Your car body is probably very close to where the camera is located therefore try adjusting the lower value downwards close to zero.

LocalCam=TVCOCKPIT
{
Fov=(100.389, 75.292)
 Clear=TRUE
 Color=(0, 0, 0)
 ClipPlanes=(0.305000, 500.000000)
 LODMultiplier=(1.000000)
 MipmapLODBias=(0.000000)
 Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
 Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
 Flags1=(0)
 Flags2=(0)
 RadiusLimits=(0.000000, 0.000000)
 OrientationRate=(35.000000, 35.000000, 25.000000)
 PositionOffset=(-0.000000, 0.428553, -0.230790)      //(Left-Right, Up-Down, Back,Forward)
 OrientationOffset=(-0.068662, -0.015162, 0.001304)
 Radius=(0.000000)
}

Thanks David for you help, unfortunately it does not work Crying or Very sad I assume this has something to do with this F1C carbody that I am trying to use. I really don't know what else could be..

Hello Alberto and thank you! I am using the carbody of the F1 Challenge car, but I don't know why I cannot see this body with the tvcockpit camera, only with that, the others are just fine Neutral

I suspect it's a LOD issue. If you are too close to the car, you can't see the body. Ensure that in the cockpit section in the GEN file the object (carbody) starts being displayed at zero metres.

This is the string copied directly from the gen in the line relative to the carbody (that I'm using as cockpit too):

LODIn=(0.0) LODOut=(100.0) ShadowReceiver=True

Try moving the TVCockpit camera position to somewhere near the rollover hoop, it look as if your camera location could be inside the car body.
This is the line to edit in the .cam file.

Tried without luck Sad  What I find really strange is that if I enter test days with a car from the base mod (for example a Toleman, because this mod is based on the 1985 one) and then start adding opponents, then it's possible to see also these cars with their invisibile carbodies in the tvcockpit.  Rolling Eyes

Hi, yes the mod is proceeding, I had a problem for which I opened this topic but I solved it, it was a problem with the mirrors format in the carbody, I resolved using bmp instead of dds. The mod will not be ready before one month/one month and half, I'll let you know Very Happy

Thanks, can't wait to discover your work ! I don't know why that year was missing, so incredible cars !
If I was able to do modding, I'd have created it since a while Smile

there was a F1 challenge '87 mod, not too bad, and I reached to modify some skins in it, the problem is to be acurate in the details as the numbers, sponsors, or physics.

I totally agree!! At the moment we are finishing the F1 1986 mod with a guy, then I'll finish the 87 mod. There are also jobs I've already finished like a BRM add-on for the 1977 mod, I sent you some pics in PM! Very Happy

Nice but will you ever do f1 1982? Because the only mod out there which is now 0.95 was never completed.
