After reviewing the Round 13 replay, the admins have made the following decision.

Jason Fitch receives a one-race suspension in the 1988 CART series for avoidable contact with Jason White and Michal Janak on lap 1. The administration made it clear just before the race that drivers should be careful approaching the Corkscrew on lap 1 due to the high risk of an incident -- instructions that Jason Fitch did not heed. Since it was only minutes before that the drivers were told to be prudent in this area, and two drivers' races were needlessly ruined, a suspension is deemed necessary; this sort of carelessness on lap 1 is completely unacceptable.  A repeat incident of this kind will draw further disciplinary action from the league.
