| If your game froze/crashed during the race, please state so in this thread.
Please also comment what car you was driving and what car graphics setting you was using.
Thankyou. | |

| #10 lola t300
circuit / player / opponent / texture detail levels = high texture filter = bilinear special effects = high shadows = low shadow blur=off visible vehicles = 16 mirrors = on steering wheel = on
during testing thru the week, on and off the server, i never experienced an issue.

Game locked when I exited first qual run.
Everything was at max.
Turned all to medium except opponent detail at high. Shadows off.
No issues afterwards. | |

| MacLaren 18 #33 Got two issues during qualifications as I was in Full for everything Dx9. During qualif I switch shadow to none and number of cars visible to 10 during Warm up. No problems after (other than a miserable performance ) | |

| Surtees TS11
ussualy I run all details at high, 2xAA, trilinear filtering...
In qualis, it crashed. I though its about my old PC Lessen all the details to LOW, and couldnt enter the server (game wont load) then I tryed different setups of detail, and found out that if opponent detail is lower than HI, it wont load.
Finally, it crashed right after Jacob Fredericson crashed (few seconds latter).

| After a lot of checking files I decided to change the graphics setting in rfactor and I found that setting Player detail, opponent detail or maybe texture detail to low will stop the cars from loading with a texture error. I've no idea why low detail causes an errror. I have no problems when Player detail, opponent detail or maybe texture detail are set on Full, High, or Medium.
Can we check that this happens for other people.
1. Try loading a race with Player detail, opponent detail and texture detail set to full.
2. Try loading a race with Player detail, opponent detail and texture detail set to high.
3. Try loading a race with Player detail, opponent detail and texture detail set to medium.
4. Try loading a race with Player detail, opponent detail and texture detail set to low.
There is no need to drive the race just check that all of the cars load ok and there are no errors during loading. If the race loading stops press enter to cancel the error, you may need to do this a lot of times on low detail settings.

| its always a mistery what causes it and specialy only online it "could" be a sprl shader issue (track car wise)
the track uses the sprl textures but the f5000 not i installed the f78 mod (with the shader pages in plugin folder )and f5000 in a clean install and run all FULL exept for shadows ( high) , x 16 AS, all went smooth , FPS 180 and stable
this track uses very high textures(2048-1024) and im pretty sure if you run to low they won'l load properly and will crash for a certain time
i had headages to try to get snetterton55 from JP to work even to use for the 60s trackpack, resized all 4096pixel to 2048 but for som odd reason it keeps crashing so i dropped it which is a hughes shame
im aware that some people here dont have computer that are for today standards can run rf1 with eas so be sure to run in DX9! update it if nessesary, always run the 4gb patch if you have a 64bit windows and look in google to tweak youre username.plr and Multiplayer.ini

| Thanks everyone for testing so far , I think that I'm getting close to a solution so stop testing the settings now. It appears that the specular map files are causing the problems. | |

| We believe we have solved the issue where the game crashes.
If you install this patch over your V2.0 install, all issues should be corrected.
If you could all test this patch and report back here if you have any problems.
Thankyou

Still a couple of weeks until the next race. DRM and F1 '78 has kept me busy. Will make to test thoroughly in good time ahead of Edmonton at least!

| The problem is that if this patch does not fix the crashes then it could take a couple of weeks (or more) to find another solution. We would like to know that the fix solves the crashes so that we can move on to other work. | |
