| OK. "Without looking it up, of course." (I love that you guys have continued to use that.)
In 1961, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was finally completely paved with asphalt except for the "yard of bricks" at start/finish. It was repaved in 1988. But when was it last paved before 1988?
(Let's try to get a new winner this time.)

| 1974? As the track was much renovated after the 1973 catastrophy. | |

| Nice to see you in this, Jacob!
That is a very well-considered answer and I would have thought so as well. But, unfortunately, not correct.

(Let's try to get a new winner this time.) I think a new pavement is needed every 7-10 years on a race track so I guess it must be 1978

(Let's try to get a new winner this time.) Without many knowledge of pavings, I say this is a trick question so 1961 is the latest before 1988.

There is no general rule as far as repaving a track is concerned, it depends on many factors : type of track, type of surface (asphalt, tarmacadam, bitmac being the most common ones), and most importantly location (a track enduring hard winters will need resurfacing more often). And of course it is a very expensive thing to do so some tracks can't do it as often as they would like. I know Monaco for instance repaves a third of the racing surface every three years, but that's because a) they can afford it, b) it's relatively short, and c) it's a street circuit so the cost is merged with the town's road maintenance budget.

| Indianapolis was never repaved. Just ask any driver after he gets out of the car | |

| Alright, without looking anything up, with Paul Page's move to ABC for 1988, who began his brief tenure as "Voice of the 500" for the 1988 radio broadcast? | |

| Guess I'll answer try this one?
Lou Palmer served as the "Voice of the 500" for the 88 and 89 races before Bob Jenkins took over in 90.

| Alright, "without looking it up!"
For 1988 there was a rule change in regards to the Pits, what was this change and why was it instituted?
