I can't stand the play by play guys they have today. Little or no historical knowledge.

Going to watch it later, only managed to see the beginning. What laptimes did he do?

He did 12 lap stints where he got progressively faster.
He was mainly just trying to get comfortable.

I've heard something like he wasn't allowed to go faster than 220 mph in the rookie orientation(thus 219 laps)? He was up into 221 mph later on though.

I know it was a crapwagon Dallara, but it was really nice to see McLaren orange with blue trim

Johnny Rutherford also said that 1973 qualifying was the first time he had been flat-out for the whole lap.
