| I've managed to source one of the comics that was translated to English for a reasonable price, but my question is, how long are the comics in actual pages? I'm sure there are many of you in mainland Europe that have read them so I though I would ask here.
Thanks. | |

| The first ones are about 60 pages, then they dropped to ~45 pages. Which one did you buy ? | |

| I haven't bought it yet, but it is called "The unknown driver" is that one any good? I think they only translated about 3 or 4 to English unfortunately. Best idea may be to learn French ![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif) | |

| Must be this one, "The faceless driver" would be the accurate translation of the title. ![Michael Valliant comics Images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSCIaxtnC35YgHpB3w624U_zH1aZWBKuH_-PW3fhnHsWS6titgXQRlufOo](http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSCIaxtnC35YgHpB3w624U_zH1aZWBKuH_-PW3fhnHsWS6titgXQRlufOo) It's the tome 2, it's very old (1960) so it has a cool vintage feeling ![Smile](/users/2915/69/36/76/smiles/420535.gif) | |

| This is the one i was thinking of buying. It's called "The mystery driver" it's the cheapest version I've seen of the English translations.

| Le Pilote Sans Visage is one of the best of the early comics. 60+ pages give you quite a lot to read. I have the full series, in both Dutch and French, and a few special editions. HSO's Indy 500 made we want to read some albums again because Indy featured quite a few times in the series. The detail and realism are excellent, but I'm not a big fan of their recent reboot. I wasn't much into the final volumes of the original series. I used to read them again and again, now I read them once and they're off to the bookshelf without seeing the light of day again. The first 30 albums contain a high level of American racing, certainly for a European series. In album 1 he takes on the Indy 500, in album 3 he goes to Sebring, album 6 sees his team entering the Carrera Panamericana, they return to Indy and Daytona in album 11, attempt a Land Speed Record at Bonneville in album 14 (which is the first of the 46 page albums), Nascar in Riverside/Daytona/Darlington in album 15, US motocross in album 20, Sebring again in 21, a rally from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in 22, his teammate Steve Warson tries to win at Indy in albums 26 and 28 and there's a San Francisco car chase (wonder where that idea came from...) in album 29. The series also premiered a Lotus-Honda 25 years before that combination made it to F1. Admittedly, it was a Honda chassis with a Lotus engine in the back, but still it was 1964, 25 years before Lotus and the Japanese worked together. ![lol!](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/lol.gif) If you're considering buying the whole series in French, which I admit is quite an investment, you could buy the "Integrale Michel Vaillant" series. Those books contain 3 to 5 volumes, and unpublished shorter sorties which you won't find elsewhere, and it might cost less then it would cost to buy the albums separately. | |
