| Subject: ** LONG BEACH PIT EXIT RULES ** Mon 22 Feb 2016 - 19:45 | |
| Long Beach has a very awkward pit exit that dumps the car into the downhill chute at Linden Avenue. During the race, there is the potential for serious accidents at this location if great care is not taken by drivers exiting the pits. Therefore, the following rules will be observed during the United States Grand Prix West on February 28th:- Drivers must observe the traffic light that is posted at pit exit. The green light in the middle is active throughout the race. If the green light is on BY ITSELF, a driver can exit the pits at speed. HOWEVER, the following two conditions must be taken seriously:YELLOW LIGHT - If the yellow light is flashing, this means there are cars in the vicinity of the pit exit. In this case, drivers exiting the pits must stay to the right and exercise caution. RED LIGHT - If the red light is flashing, this means there will likely be cars in front of the pit exit at the same time a driver is rejoining the race. In this case, drivers exiting the pits must come to a stop and wait until they at least see the yellow light; then they can proceed with caution. Again, drivers must adhere to these rules during the race. If a driver is caught violating the rules, he/she may be penalized post race.
