Dieter Quester, I think, flipped his M3 on its roof at Avus once?

A more difficult one, let's see who besides Frank "The bible" Verplanken can answer it:
Which was the only GP ever disputed in Formula One in two heats? Note, I'm not saying a race stopped and continued, but a race planned from the beginning in two heats, like TC races.

I'm guessing this was a non-championship race.

I would have thought of a non championship race as well. Now, the only one I can think of is AVUS 1959.

Was it him that drove for American-based NART that ran private Ferraris because... Il Commendatore didn't bother with the races overseas?
Ah wait, it was a protest.
Quote :
Ferrari won the 1964 World Championship by competing the last two races in cars painted not in the traditional Rosso corsa but in white and blue, as these were not entered by the Italian factory themselves, but the US-based NART team. This was done as a protest concerning arguments between Ferrari and the Italian Racing Authorities regarding the homologation of a new mid-engined Ferrari race car.
Yeah, directly taken from NART Wikipedia
