As it isn't a proper Rally Car (Ferrari + that low) I'm guessing it's an HillClimb.....

Could it be from the European Hill Climb Championship and in that case, I'm guessing it could be:

St Jean du Gard - Col St Pierre?

Hard one and nice picture Smile

I have just been there again and saw Simone Faggioli driving close by after his new course record Shocked

Over 180 km/h average speed now(1:43.11 I believe)! affraid

Lionel Regal died at this track, Marcel Steiner crashed heavily but escaped injuries, as did Philippe Siffert in the Porsche when his throttle got stuck in a demo run.

Yes, the Isle of Man TT and the other motorbike road races are in the list of "very few still untouched motorsports". :chinois:

TBH, St. Ursanne - Les Rangiers sucks at certain areas each year.

You should see the entry list we get as specators. Some cars have numbers that aren't on the entry list, dunno where they got them wrong(So suddenly the #130 has the #131, even though the entry list says #130, damn confusing if the car is far away and you can't read the number). Additionally, only this year they decided to put a timing screen at the passage "Le Petit Susten", and the live timing displayed some crude times that weren't true(imagine a VW Golf finishing the track in under 2 Minutes when Faggioli needs 1:43 in his Osella).

When they have to stop the course due to a stranded car, they sometimes take ages to clear it. They send out a recovery truck from the starting line for example, but it seems they didn't even need it in the end.

The speakers are also meh. The German ones repeats every name/thing/whatever even though we understood it the first time, and when there's a break and they play music, the French ones tries to be cool, going "AC/DC, yeeeeaaahhh" followed by a laugh that is supposed to be creepy/cool. YOU ARE NOT FUNNY.

The prices seem to increase while the number of specators seems to decrease. Pay more for less? Really?

What has happened to the special drivers that appeared from time to time? No special demo runs of some great cars? Where are the surprises?

Jim Clark had been at St. Ursanne, I even got to see Steve Parrish in his race truck back in the 90ties!

I like to go and watch(or listen, the Normas, Osellas and so on sound awesome when they echo through the valley!), but maybe the organsation should do something and fix some things like the program book having some mistakes(Don't get me started on the translation from French to German in it, even I can do a better job!)

To me, it seems like they are too laid back with their approach Razz

It might have its bad points, but I would really love to be able to go to some of those amazing hillclimbs of central europe, like St Ursanne, Rechberg, Col St Pierre in France etc...
Here in Spain the only european hillclimb we have is el Fito, but it's nearly 1000 km from my home town... maybe when I get my driving license (yes, I'm only 17 Razz ) I will be able to visit them.:banane:
The small regional hillclimb championships are pretty alive here, with 40-50 or more cars each race, some WRC's, GT's and small single seaters, but the national championship is pretty dead, with no more than 20-30 drivers, and in the national champ the open wheelers are BANNED, and prototypes are restricted to CM's (400kg single seaters with 190CV 1000cc motorbike engines), so all the "big" protos and formula cars are restricted to race in the regional championships, pretty dumb all in all...
But in this country we will never reach those entry lists you have there, with hundreds of cars, here if we get 60-70 cars in a hill climb it's like heaven.

http://www.rangiers.ch/images/listedesinscrits.pdf

Sure, many cars were there(Siffert's Porsche crashed as I said, and the Mazda with Rotary engine by Yann Heche never appeared?), but some of them are small cars, nothing amazing.

Maybe I can get hold of my father's digital camera to post some pictures.
