There are links to the default sound files downloads. There should be a skid.wav file within the default folder, at least that's how it is on my install's of rFactor.

| That's weird, I clearly hear the sound of the tires skidding -in fact I tweaked some time ago the sound settings to hear them louder because I don't have FF in my steering wheel and need more sensory input to compensate.
Play a bit with the sound options in the menu, try first of all lowering the engine of your car and of other cars and see what you hear, maybe it was just that the engine roar was too loud in your options. Note however that the default skid sound for rFactor will not be used by the game if the mod you are running features a custom skid sound!
So, the skid will actually sound different in each mod that comes with a soundpack -and some have a veryfaint one.

change this: Vehicle Skidding VolMult
In the file: Factor\UserData\<player name>\<player name>.plr
But from my experience every mod has different sounds, so what is loud for one, could be to silent in another one.

| Vehicle Scrubbing VolMult="0.00300" Vehicle Scrubbing FreqGrip="-0.25000" Vehicle Scrubbing FreqSpeed="0.00195" Vehicle Skidding VolMult="0.00300" Vehicle Skidding FreqGrip="-0.25000" Vehicle Skidding FreqSpeed="0.00195"
A higher number will increase the volume.
But check this file after you install a mod, I have a weird feeling the values are changed.

| Well Yannick's solution was the right one, setting the FX sound from 0% up to 40% in-game did the trick... When a stupid lad ask a stupid question, the stupidest answer is often the right one Remember why I switched these off 4 years ago now : those annoying menu sounds. And I've been complaining about the lack of skidding sound ever since Merci Yannick | |
