| Subject: 2011 Preview Tue 7 Dec 2010 - 23:57 | |
| As the 2011 season is now only a month away, we thought we would give you a preview of the scheduled HSO championships for next year. We don't want to spoil the surprise for the new series to come, but maybe some of you need to organise their 2011 season now and could use such a preview. So here's the plan so far for next year. Six championships are scheduled so far, all on rFactor : Our 1979 F1 anchor series comes back for its fourth year, but this will most likely be the last year we'll be doing it. Plans are to switch to another year for 2012, with the 1971, 1973, 1975, 1980, 1988 or 1991 mods all considered, although most would require a lot of work on the physics. Anyway for 2011 races remain on Sundays and we'll of course do both the Championship and non-championship races of 1979. The series will run from January to December, except July and August. Our TCL series will leave the 1988 DTM after two years of great racing. We will switch to another country and 1986 for next year. Races will still be on Wednesdays. This series will consist of 13 race meetings, starting in March and ending in October, with no races during in July and August. Another well know mod at HSO is the Procar BMW M1 one, which is being upgraded to much more accurate physics by Alberto Ibañez in collaboration with HSO members. The new version will also feature a lot of new cars, for the BMW had many versions whether it raced in the Procar spec series, in Endurance racing or in the USA. We will do the 1980 Procar BMW series we did in 2010, with the 9 races on Sunday nights. The series will run from May to December, with no racing during the Summer break. I guess it's impossible to have a decent historic simracing league without a HGTTC series . Our 2011 series will be quite different from what we did before. The championship will include more than 20 of the mod’s cars (split in 4 classes) to be raced in no less than 80 races spread over 40 race days on 27 different circuits. Most importantly, you will be free to chose a different car for each race, rather than stick to the same one all year. Races will be held on a weekly basis on Friday nights, starting in January and ending in December, with no races in July and August. The last two scheduled series are dear to our hearts since they involve two mods the HSO Modding Team, under the guidance of our one and only Gui , has put a lot of work into. One will be based on the F5000 mods of Dave Sabre, which we have used to create a 1972 field. All the physics have also been extensively modified. We will have 30 races in 2011, all on Wednesdays, covering the three major F5000 championships of the year. The F5000 will run all year, from January to December, with one of the three championships devoted to the Summer months. The second mod will feature Group C sportscars of the 1980s, with here again lot of new skins and totally reworked physics. As Endurance races are still so problematic with rFactor, we'll have instead a solo racing championship of 5 races, run between January and April. Races will be on Sunday nights. So that's the backbone of our 2011 season. Open events will of course regularly be held, with the 1998 CART, 1991 F1 and 1988 F1 mods as the next probable used mods. Papysims (GPL & NR2003) might also be used. Hillclimbing with TCL will also be back, as well as our traditionnal Indianapolis 500 race. All in all there more than 125 days of racing scheduled, and a lot more races as some of those meetings have 2 races per night. On the sad side there will be no more GPL or NR2003 series, which is a great shame for us admins as we all four grew up on Papyrus sims, and one can say that without GPL HSO probably would have never existed. But the limited doable accurate championships, combined with the ever declining number of active drivers on those venerable sims has made it impossible for us to run a viable, full-grided, championship. We hope these championships will meet your needs and desires in terms of historic simracing . We also would like to thank you for a great 2010 season, with some great racing among the finest group of gentlemen simracers ever assembled ! Looking forward to seeing you on track, Antoine, Frank, Guillaume, Martin.

| Pour HGT, ça sera vraiment tous les vendredi, le principe c'est vraiment "venez rouler quand vous pouvez". Le championnat sera vraiment accessoire. Par contre, la F5000 c'est pas tous les mercredi Pascal.
Concerning the HGT mod, races will be every fridays, the motto is really "come race when you can", the championship is really secondary.

| Wow Great Calendar for next year Sorry to see things like GPL and Nascar 2003 fall by the wayside but i do think this will be to the benefit of us all at HSO with hopefully as rFactor has proved a lot more people attending races..... This will also open up the calendar for some other racing series... Like you say this will probably be the last season of F179 but there are some great mods out there that im sure can fill its place ........ Really excited to see another appearance of the Bmw M1 Procars we should be up and running with Version 2 by then and also cant wait to see the Group C cars in action .... F5000 Will be great and will require patience some skill to get the car to the finish totally different to drive compared to the F179 mod ....Should be interesting to see how this one pans out as its a very long season with some great tracks to race on .... Im just wondering what will replace GPL and Nascar 2003 on Saturday Night's ... A Very long season for next year with some great racing to look forward to and i think it will be near impossible to attend every race but it will be interesting to see who wins that prize for the most or best attendance .... _________________ What we do Monday to Friday Keeps us up with the Competition ... There most likely won't be any races on Saturdays, as we've only had deceptive turnouts that day since two years. Unless of course we decide to move the HGTTC to Saturday regarding those who can't race on Fridays. I can hardly conceive an HGTTC series without Honza . Now that I think of it, it would even be possible to race on both days as the HGTTC schedule is so big. - Karel Marciniszyn wrote:

I think I posted the F5000 schedule in the Modding Team sub-forum . F5000 races will be around 1 hour long, sometimes less but never more . Qualifying will be held just before the race, but I guess we can make them last until 9:15pm if you promise to come to every race !
