| That was unfortunate Osman, some cars who left the race were still on their pitbox, a bug with the track. | |

- // Whether passing is allowed on starts and restarts before the start/finish line; default=0, possible values
// are 1=passing on right is legal, 2=passing on left is legal, and 3=passing anywhere is legal. PassingBeforeLineOval=1 PassingBeforeLineRoad=0

| Short race-recap. Got stuck in the office longer than anticipated. Still wanted to do my friday jogging so went for the run, got back home all sweaty and thirsty by 20.20. Had a quick shower and quick bowl of soup to find myself behind the wheel with 2 min of warm-up to go. Just in time ... Having missed qualification, I would however be starting last, which was not really a problem on this short track, I guessed. On the server, I had received a set-up from Pierre which was a bit to loose for me, but with some minor additional tuning, it felt perfect. I could run the race with one stop and could lap without having to change gears and, because I could slide the car a bit, the temp of the front right was manageable. The start was a bit strange. The first green green seemed to come way to early. Then the field set off at quiet a pace to slow down drastically on the back straight. Then, when the "OK Green" came, I was not sure whether it really was the start and so I took it really slow and even fell back a bit. When I had the impression, everyone was racing, I started charging and was lucky enough to avoid the wrecks of the first laps. At the start of the race, I was actually surprised at how easy I could reel in and pass the first cars I met. I was only pushing when closing a gap and when I started passing cars, I could actually cool down my tyres. As a result, also due to the misfortune of others, I found myself in the top 10 rather quickly. Then the one stop started working as others made their fiirst pit and I soldiered on and I think I even ran 4th or 3rd for a while. However, as of lap 85-90, with 10-15 laps to go in the first stint. The backside of the one-stop strategy kicked in hard. The car became very understeering as the front right was gone and I lost between 1 and 2 seconds a lap. Taking into account that a pitstop costs around 15 sec here, I'm not convinced that a one-stopper was such a huge advantage. Anyyway, 3 or 4 cars repass me by the end of my fiirst stint. I pit and rejoin somewhere around 7th. I can then repass some cars and when others go in for their second stop, I make it into the top 5 again. I then hit Paul from behind. Big appologies for that. I don't understand what happened there. I was approaching the turn slightly slower then usual and suddenly the speed-difference between us seemed to be much bigger than I had anticipated. I also had a look at the replay afterwards and still don't get it. Seems like Paul may have been trying to enter the pit or something but on the other hand, we were quiet high up on the track. Beats me ... Appologies for that. I then seem to setlle down in 4th, untill Vincent smacks his car in the wall and I end up with a podium ... Yihaa. This was a good night of fun. As you almost always have some kind of action around you on these short tracks, this was a lot less dull than one could expect from 200 laps turning around. It was actually hard work to remain focussed all the time and avoid mayhem. Looking forward to the next one. Timo | |
