Don't know what you source is but it suspiciously looks like wikipedia which should never be trusted as far as motor racing history is concerned. Jack Brabham finished second at Monza '67. Bruce McLaren qualified on the front row but broke the engine in the race.

For reliable F1 results use Forix (paying), the French StatsF1, Quintin Cloud's F1 Results page, or Darren Galpin's GEL Motorsport page Wink.

60 degrees I think ? Pretty common for V12s, at least racing ones. Ferrari, Maserati, OSCA, Honda and probably others had such engines.

Great way to start. Suddenly the thing was undriveable, felt like GPL on 1998, when no computer was able to run it. Tried everything, changing video options, multiplayer, single player, different mods, all the same, until the note died on me... great , a brand new machine bought just to be able to race with rF2. When about to give up dumb me found out the note was unplugged, running on battery.
Wel lost lots of time but at least know the problem :banane:
When was going tpo join again the game decided I had to download the track and the mod again!!!
Looks like I will start ftom the pits... :papy:

Man, I do miss GPL

In addition, since the start of the session I had a lot of lag ... but, no excuse it's my fault.

3 mistakes braking into Parabolica going wide.
Lost it second Lesmo under throttle...couldn t safe the car and the catchfencing claimed the front right tyre........... :-(

Made 3 mistakes on my own (one because of that crazy brake-behaviour) and when entering the pits i tried to remove tirechange from servcie, not recognizing my car pulls to the right - hitting the pit-building .... :doh:

Sorry for Yannick, not sure what happened at your side, was afraid you hadnt seen me besides you, and that looks like the case. I bent the suspension a little but was able to keep going.

and realy want to THX to some (one) lapped car, in some cases it look like want fight for pos and change line before parabolica, losed plenty of seconds and destroyed my well calculatec tactics with pit stop Sad

can figt for 2nd in finish

and Vadim didn help too as he made some mistakes at Paraboloca and as i let him bye 2 or 3 times so nice 10s lost

so main aim beat team mate didn happen

The rear wheels never passed the front wheels so this counts as a successful race! Only scare I had was I drifted into the marbles at the parabolica letting a leader pass and went off road for about half the curve. Gerard was able to catch me and Jan almost caught me.

These cars do not like the reverse slope on any turn!

:hello: Mon objectif était de finir la course et de rouler le plus propre possible, mais trop lent pour rentrer dans les points , ensuite j'ai embarqué trop d'essence mauvais calcule de ma part .

Je n'ai pas vu le replay , mais il semble qu'il y a un pilote qui sort a cause d'un freinage trop violent et qui abandonne , j'espère que ce n'est pas de ma faute car il arrive très vite derrière moi . :urgence:

Bravo a tous ! je pense avoir un tour en retard en trop pour rentrer dans les point dommage. Rolling Eyes

...I was not in one of the lapped cars, but to be honest...your tactics was not calculated well if you do not calculate with lapped cars. There are people in these cars also, so you should behave a little bit different. It looks that you complain regulary about the lapped drivers, so you better prepare yourself psychologicaly before the race, that there might be drivers slower than you. You will never have a race driving in top car on higher possitions and have no lapped drivers. btw. you finished 3rd, isn´t it better to enjoy the result than complaining?

And complaining that driver who fought with you for position made a mistakes? lol!

Happy to finish my first 'race' in HSO. But for me it wasn't a race it was survival.
As a wings-and slicks-guy I find driving the 1967 Shitboxes unenjoyable, but important to finish.
Fourth and lapped three times, I knew with the Brabham I did not have the pace, so drove all week on full tanks to prep for the race and not worry about qualy. Paid off.

Congrats to the aliens on the podium! Awesome driving.

On another note:
Some aliens were complaining about backmarkers... and the moaned that they lost 1.3 seconds lapping one guy.

Well here's for the Aliens: every time you lap me I lose 2-3 seconds trying to get out of your way - and I am sure my fellow gentlemen driver lose similar time every time you come past. So please, and with respect, shut up and drive.

Sorry Frank & Steve for the near misses when being lapped but you came on to me so fast, the blue flag so late, I nearly panicked trying to get out of your way...

In closing the blue flags come out far too late. They should show at least 5-10 seconds earlier.

Thank you for all who organised the race. I (love)hate these GPL era cars but HSO rocks. Bring on the next one!

As mentioned in my earlier post the complaining about backmarkers is uncalled for in this league. I am new to it but I only see clean driving.
Info for Aliens: Lapped guys lose 2-3 seconds getting out of the way of the fast guys!
Maybe we can find a mod that makes backmarkers invisible? So you can drive straight through us?

That was a nice night of racing Smile. The mod is pretty a'ight overall, without any major flaws as far as I can tell. The physics are more than satisfying, it's probably the rF2 historic mod with the most distinct physics between cars. So often on rF2 it seems all the cars of a given mod have the same basic physics with just specs (weight and engine mostly) altering the handling of the cars. With this one each car really has its own feel, very much like it was in the 1979 F1 mod of rFactor 1 for instance.

We could definitely use that mod for a full season as it is, although a couple of tracks are missing. We would also need a few more entries, so that would imply a bit of modding to add a few 1967 entrants. But anyway, more Gold Star events with the mod will happen in 2020, and it is fair to say it is a strong candidate for a full season in 2021 Cool.

My race was really enjoyable while it lasted. I had not tried the car on full tanks, so only did a quick fast one in qualy before devoting most of the session to adapting my Q setup for the race and learning the car with full fuel load.

I was anticipating a nice fight with the Ferraris and while Michal on half tanks ran away, Steve was right there with me in the first part of the race. I managed to slingshot past Steve in the main straight, but at the Parabolica at the end of the same lap my car snaked heavily under braking and I almost ran into Steve. I let Steve through to make amends, but was following him comfortably and was ready to continue the cat and mouse game until the closing stages of the race.

But then I caught a few bad breaks in traffic and Steve got a 5-second gap. Later a microfreeze almost sent me out in Parabolica and the gap went up to 12 seconds. Finally, while about to lap François I was surprised by his manoeuvre at Lesmo 1, jumped on the brakes, spun and made an offering of one magnesium wheel to Santa Madonna Armco :smil20: . Too bad as Michal's pitstop would have put me halfway between the two Ferraris which would have made for an interesting end of race.

Can't say I was too impressed by your start by the way Michal. Being on the outside of the row on his circuit, going inside/left when you take off is nowhere near what we mean by prudence at the start...

Likewise some traffic situations could have been handled better, although I'm ready to put a lot of those on rF2's handling of blue flags or some of us not being too familiar with the mod yet.

@Franck désolé, drapeaux bleu , je vois ta voiture loin et d'un coup très prêt, j'ai eu un réflex sûrement inapproprié car l impression que tu allais me rentrer dedans à plein charge...c'etait donc toi qui a visiter le paysage , désolé surtout que dans l ensemble j ai vraiment fait attention aux copains.
