| If you want to edit the 3D of the racetrack you will need either 3dsimed or 3dsmax. | |

| The .SCN file tells rFactor which .GMTs to use, the GMTs need to be packed in the .MAS file.
Is the sign GMT in the LIENZ mas file.

Is the sign GMT in the LIENZ mas file. Have been solved the issue now. But, another problem. When I open the track at 3dSimEd, the sign move there

| When you position the sign where you want it to be remember to reset its pivot point to 0,0,0.
Edit - Center Model - Set Pivot Point

| Tracks loading slowly is usually due to using .BMP or .TGA texture files, if possible always use .DDS for the textures.
If the issue went back make sure that you saved the edited .GMT and added it to the track .MAS file.

| Don't mean to hijack thread.......but....while you are here Mr Sabre....
Is there a simple way to know what settings to use when exporting textures .DDS from Photoshop (using Nvidia DDS plugin)? I haven't used it since rFactor and ...... I can't remember. TIA.

| I don't use photoshop, I use PaintShopPro and work with .TGA files. Then I use TheCompressonator to convert the .TGA files to .DDS files. In TheCompressonator I use these settings. Generate mips using the lowest level 1x1. Then compress the file using ATI 3Dc Compression (as in the image below). with the compression settings as below. | |

| Ah, cheers. FWIW, different options in the Nvidia plugin: I guess DXT5 is right.........ARGB is one with an alpha, presumably. So, DXT5_NM looks to correspond most with your settings? OK, cheers. I'll go with that to start. | |

| I think that the one that you have highlight in that image is the one that you need. Skins usually have an alpha channel. If I load a skin into TheCompressonator it has these properties. | |

| Ah, cheers. (I can't find a way in PS to show the settings of an already loaded .dds, like you have there. I might grab PSP just for that.
Anyway, I'll have a mess about. Thanks for help.

That image is not PaintShopPro its from the TheCompressonator. I use .TGA file in PaintShopPro and then convert them to .DDS with TheCompressonator.

If the issue went back make sure that you saved the edited .GMT and added it to the track .MAS file. I get it. I forgot to place the .dds file at the track directory. But anyone know where the .dds file is stored?

| The .dds are in .mas files, stored in the track folder (or as specified in the track's .scn file, or in the root of the Locations folder.)
The program Mas Explorer let's you pack/unpack Mas files.
Note, if you drop a .dds file into the track folder, with the same name as one of those .dds stored in the .mas, the game will use the one you added in the folder rather than the one in the Mas file. You don't have to repack everything into a .mas - you can leave the files loose.
