Round 5 - Indianapolis 500 Time Trials [May 12th]

Tomorrow, at around 20h00 Paris time, I will omit the remaining TBAs from the qualy schedule and close everyone up.
Anyone who picks up a car after that will be added to the bottom of the list.

Driver goes out, does his warmup, Takes the Green Flag, Complete his first lap, as he goes through Turn 1 on his second lap he loses it, Drifts the car through the shot chute, across the grass inside Turn 2 and back onto the track without hitting anything. AMS then says he cut the track and therefore STOPS the timing of that lap. Does that lap then count in his 4 timed laps total, even though it's not timed? Or should he wave off?

I think a wave off would be in order.

"Anyone who lets their engine smoke for more than one full lap during one of their qualifying runs will have that run null and void and will be asked to return to the pits. This will also count as one attempt from your allotted 3 runs.

The March-Porsche is known to have overheating problems.
Using the radiator opening in position 8, I can make all the laps without blowing the engine, except that a small amount of smoke appears.
Using the radiator opening in position 9, the smoke does not appear, but I lose 3 tenths of a second around.
How tolerant is this measure? For I feel as the most prejudiced against this measure.

The vast majority of other cars with different engines can do the qualifying laps with the opening in 5 or 6.
I believe that with this rule I will be the most impaired to qualify my car.

You'll have to run 9. Sorry but the rule is for everyone and we cannot make any exceptions for single cars.

If you are only smoking partially and not for a full lap, then you can run 8. You just can't have the engine smoking for a full lap.

I have a problem with and see if it smokes or not by the car, I have had to put down the graphics in the game for it to work ok. how big a radiator opening do I have for and be sure that the engine does not smoke?

With the Cosworth you should be able to run 5.

Question about qualy run: when you mention warmup lap and 4 timed laps, do you mean you have an extra lap to get the car up to temperature before the time trial begins? Or is that warmup lap just the outlap?

Warmup lap is your outlap.

its a long time again since last indy time trial, i can join the server anytime and will be "called" to track (near my time slot) and then i go out the pits right?

You can only join the server at the top of each hour when it is open for 5 minutes.
In your particular case, you should join between 21h00 and 21h05 CET.

As said before, I will call people to the server by posting on the forum.

Keep a lookout, we may get ahead of time so be ready and keep checking the forum.

Watching the broadcast will also give you an idea of where we are up too.

Running order

Ignore your allotted time, look at the SERVER OPEN time at the top of the block you are in. These are a rough estimate of when you will be asked to enter the server. You could be asked to join before or later.

This is the only time we will be allowing people to join the server, anyone who joins outside of these time brackets will be sent to the end of the list.

I will call drivers on the forum, saying who we want to join and when they need to join by. Do not attempt to join the server until you see a post from myself saying the following

DRIVER A
DRIVER B
DRIVER C
Etc.

JOIN THE SERVER NOW, YOU HAVE UNTIL XX:XX CET

If you see your name you can join the server immediately. So please check the forum regularly when your time bracket is approaching.

If your time bracket isn't suitable, please arrange with someone else to swap, state which timing bracket you would rather run in and and hopefully someone can swap with you. DO NOT leave this until the last minute.

Here is a reminder of the procedure regarding joining the server.

So we can't just join the server at the start of the time trials (before they start) and stay there throughout?

I saw that, and maybe I read it wrong, so was the only reason I ask.

I have a quesion, are the drivers from the first wave able to join the server prior to 20:00hrs and remain on it, or the server is going to be reset at that time?
