It’s certainly one of the trickier circuits on the Can-Am calendar.

It’s certainly one of the trickier circuits on the Can-Am calendar. The track layout is certainly tricky, but the track itself seems to be very slippery, as well.

| this is a real "drivers" track, how you drive the car can drastically affect the laptime. the trick for me was to get the gearing set "right", such that you have a usable, low rpm gear for the exit of each turn. i had it set so it was mostly 3rd gear, 4th only once at the end of the back straight, 2nd for sure the last hairpin and most likely for the right/left after the first drop off (turn 3/4?), and optional for the hairpin before the back straight. aggressive feels fast, but slower and smoother turns out to be quicker.

good luck, dave

| As so often I have absolutely no feeling for the limit. I run decently safe (decently safe means I run of maybe once in five laps) at a certain laptime, and think 'ah, there was still plenty left', so next time around, I push a very little bit harder, and all I get is finding myself sliding helplessly off the track. What I loved so much in Mosport, a clear feedback telling me I shouldn't go any further now, is completely absent here. | |

| I'm with Drechsler, I'm getting zero feel from this Lola. One lap I'm there, the next lap doing the same thing and i'm off. There also seems to be no rhyme or reason for the back end to just suddenly break lose in the turns. At times the car feels like it's 50 feet long and the engine is at the very back. There is suddenly all this momentum swinging the back end around, and it's happening in turns where it shouldn't.

The track is a conversion and the camber on the corners feels wrong, we just have to find a way to survive the race.

| the other difference is mosport is just more "open" of a circuit, high speed turns. here things are a lot tighter, and at times it feels like you are going like a snail, but if you keep it smooth its fast. the time it takes to "save" a slide really kills a laptime.
fitch, that car you are in really lacks some downforce and chassis development, it will be at a disadvantage here, and even harder to keep the rear in line. i'll see if i can do some laps and see what i can come up with for ya.
best, dave
edit: another thought, how much rear toe in are you running? higher positive rear toe can help with rear end traction, but with the rear end "holding on harder", when it lets go it goes harder and can feel a bit snappy.

That was actually it, and it didn't take more than one click less rear toe to make the car behave. Doesn't really translate in laptimes so far, but I've got my feedback back and I can now control my slip angles with throttle and brake as I like it.
