It wasn't really a split, Richards stopped codriving to focus on David Richards Autosport, which later morphed into Prodrive.
There wasn't much love lost between Ari and the Manta, he found it very understeering. He didn't really get on with it. On the Colerne stage he's regularly reaching for the brake bias knob. On some stages show on the Manx incar (I think the original VHS was an hour long) he does it almost constantly.
The infamous "Dear God" is shown at 1.32:
The RAC also used race tracks. This is Donington the wrong way round with Roger Clark with Ian Grindrod describing the stage in 1984.
And Grindrod restricting his guidelines to the bare minimum through Grizedale.
The beauty of driving unseen stages was that it required a different approach, not flat out but more anticipation. Rauno Aaltonen had a nice explanation for the right technique: "9 out of 10 times the corner is faster than you think it is. Therefor, you set it up sideways on entry and throttle through. If you get to the 10th corner which is actually slower, put it more sideways so it slows itself down."

Right it was "Dear God" not "Jeeesus" ! Still, top of the shelf in my "why I am not a rally co-driver" list of videos !
Yes crazy how he tweaks the brake bias constantly ! He also messes a few gear changes in the RAC video, sometimes wants to grab the lever from 4th gear when it is in 5th for instance. Maybe not too familiar yet with the ultra-short gears for the twisty park stages. He hits the rev limiter very early on the Castle Combe circuit stage.
The Manta 400 has to be one of the cars with the weirdest wins/love ratios in rallying history - every driver who ever raced it seems to have disliked it but it still won loads of races nevertheless.

Mark Lovell onboard the 1988 Circuit of Ireland Rally. One of the best tarmac rally drivers from the UK. I've still got the replica pace note book that came with the 1988 British Rally Championship review.

Noice A bit of a tragic figure, Mark Lovell. He won the 1986 British rally title without winning a race, and then in 1989 when he was about to win the Manx he had to slow down to let team mate Russell Brookes win . He then found a new home in America and was a star of the SCCA Pro Rally series, only to lose his life in a racing accident .

It's in German but it's so worth watching. And the story of that very example is so touching.
What? I'm not crying, you're crying!
God, I want one so badly...

I never realised that the outer chassis was so softly sprung that you could push it down on to the track.

Heh, last time I've raced there was on DTM 2012 mod in 2013, on the keyboard (!!!) because of broken instep bones on my right foot. I still don't get how I was managed to finish third.

If so how many classic races are available? I know it states back to 1981, but is every race available back to that date and is it highlights or full races?
Thanks.

I got this. In 1981, there are just British and Las Vegas Grand Prix as full race with original commentary (Murray Walker and James Hunt, legendary duo). Rest is only highlights or "review".
However with seasons less in past, I can't watch any videos because "I live in unsupported region". I am watching illegal english streams then, because legal ones aren't available in Czech Republic and I can't stand Czech F1 commentary.

Are there a lot of full classic races? Say 87, 91, 94 & 97?
Or are the majority of the races highlights? Are the highlights a good length too or are the 5-10 min long videos. I know I can't watch the live races (Thanks Sky) but I'm not too fussed, I'm more interested in the classic stuff.

The Duke stuff is okay, I have most all of the reviews on a external HD. But as you know with season reviews the races are quite short. Hence me wondering what the races on the website are like. Are they extended highlights, or just cuts from review videos.
Plus I'd like to think the footage has been upscaled slightly.
I Think the best course of action is for me to pay for one month and see what it's like and what is available.
