Mansell was no Senna, was even more agressive and prone to hurt himself, and yet
And yet he hurt himself indeed

I have no doubt that Prost, or even a fit pre 87 crash Piquet would as easily trounce everybody on the indy field, with the exception of Rick Mears and maybe Rahal, two world class drivers
Rahal was not as much talented as Piquet, Senna or Mears. He was a relentless worker, very constant, but did not have the magic the others did. Prost was very much like Rahal. Of course they all had talent, don't get me wrong, but Senna and Piquet were in another galaxy.

Michael, Al Jr and etc, they were good, but they looked better in a very average field behind them.
Yes that is true, the average field made them look better. Hell, even F1 rejects like Blundell won some races later
But probably the best gauge for talent coming from F1 to Indycar is Mansell, and I still believe Andretti on the same car would have been on par. Andretti just was too hard on the machinery and prone to do stupid things, but he was quick and his overtaking on road courses was second to none.
Form all those you mentioned, I still believe the best was Piquet. For me he was above Senna in raw talent, but he just didn't have the same commitment and foucs -and yet without it he did the same as Senna. In terms of natural talent, I don't find anybody better than Piquet in the cars of the 80s-90s. Going backwards in time you have Clark and Stewart, but those were other cars and IMO not comparable.

Well Piquet vs Senna is open for debate some other time
The point here was, could Senna dominate in indy if he would have gone there, and judging by what Mansell did, absolutely. Andretti on par with an aging Mansell in a championship he raced all is life is still not a big threat to someone as good as Senna, at the peak of his career.

Wow, that's quite a lot of work before the car's actually ready to start. I guess it has run ASAP after oil reached 90°C or it's gonna get cold again.
Would be nice to run a season with the '90 cars(some very good-looking ones), too bad the SRM mod isn't good enough.
There's a '96 mod on the rF2 Steam Workshop, but it's probably also lacking a bit.
I also heard someone wants to do a conversion for AMS on RD.
