Good movie, some beautiful pictures. It's a little miracle Villeneuve managed to make a good sequel to the first movie. But I prefered "Arrival" from the same guy

Denis Villeneuve is set to direct a new adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. Considering what a mess the David Lynch film is, I am eager to see a fresh take on this sci-fi classic.

I liked it a lot. And that is coming from a mega die hard fan of the original and all things cyberpunk. Somethings could be better, but the fact that a movie like this could be made in this day and age should be enough for me to forgive a few details.

+1
The film took its time, there wasn't an explosion every ten minutes like J.J. Abrams' crap, and the story was very well written. I had genuine empathy for the main characters, especially Joi (who ironically was the most "non-real" person in the story).
The fact that some people complain the film is too long and slow only underlines the ADHD nature of Hollywood entertainment today.

As some of you know, I am a huge fan of Syd Mead, the production designer for the original Blade Runner (credited as "Visual Futurist") I think the new film does a great job of honoring Syd's vision, while at the same time building on it. Here are some of Syd's paintings and sketches for the 1982 film. I love these.
