| I have read that in 1973 a qualifying speed of 199 Mph was reached at Indy.by Johnny Rutherford. I am unable to come even close to that in the sim. Are setups avilable to achieve such speeds?
My first post so be kind.

BTW,This is a wonderful mod which I am enjoying very much. I have two 1/18 scale models on my display shelf of the mclarens in this mod.
My first post so be kind.

| Hello and welcome to HSO Please edit your forum name and use the real one, it's one of our rules as you can see Wether you come or not close to that speed depends first of all of the car you choose, engine boost, your own driving ability and lastly, the setup. When we did our 1973 Indy 500 last May the pole was around 202 MPH. | |

| Hi Pawgy.
There is a bunch of setups here, just choose the mod and track. Also make sure you have selected the qualifying boost in the upgrades screen.

P.S If you plan to stick around on the forum, you will need to edit your profile so it has your real name. Forum rules here.

| Quite frankly I do not see why, as we all have our real names in our profile and it makes things more personal than if using the typical nicks On another note, I think you might be our most veteran user at 81. So not that bad, you already broke a record | |

200 mph laps are possible, but the setup needs to be right For starters, which version of Indianapolis are you using, and what boost setting from the upgrades menu?

For starters, which version of Indianapolis are you using, and what boost setting from the upgrades menu? Indy 1960,, Aj's car, TB of 85. I get 196 in straight.

That's the car I ran at "this years'" 500. Here's the setup I raced with, if that's any help! http://www.mediafire.com/file/s4zpbsc8ygs1x0m/coyote+indy+6.svm I struggled quite badly though, and wasn't even near the top 10. But AJ too struggled with the '73 Coyote at Indy, so that was quite realistic!

| Try using the version of the track we used in our 1973 500 this year.
http://historicsimracing.123.st/t3185-indianapolis-500-entry-list-and-time-trials-may-15th
AJ's car can't reach a 200 mph lap due to the limited boost in the Foyt Ford engine.
The Offenhauser in Rutherford's car and other top cars are capable of 1000 bhp with qualifying boost selected.

| Don, we will be having a USAC 73 race at Trenton next weekend, if you are interested. There will be several open cars to choose from. | |

| Yes come race with us, and if you don't feel like doing the whole race, pick a car and head for the track online in practice during the week. You will meet people there and be able to bang wheels a bit, see the lines they take, setups, etc. It is highly recommended to feel the ambience | |

Thank you very much for the invitation but i am just not an online racer. I really am almost 82 and ,going back to my unlimited hydroplane 1/8 scale racing I find I just get in the way. I am enjoying your sim as an off line racer even if i am not doing very good. One of my problems is ,when I hit (skip the formation lap) at Trenton, my car spins out. Even with this sites set ups. Thanks again. Don Q

Thanks again. Don Q Hey Don, age only matters if your a cheese! I had never raced online either when I joined HSO, and I wanted to just race off line and enjoy the Mod like you. Hell, I'm going to be 78 in January and I'm having a great time racing online but more importantly, I have friends all over the world. I started by just testing cars at Trenton & Indianapolis and doing some one off drives at Milwaukee, Pocono, and Michigan. I now drive for a top team and have scored points in two of the last four races. Come join us on the Trenton server this week and give yourself a chance to see the big difference between racing real drivers, and racing AI.

| Yeah like Bob said, just get regularly online when the server goes up after the race annpuncement and have some laps with those practicing in the server. I will be around to help, don't worry. Let me recommend you picking something easy to drive, get for example #23 Eagle 72 Chevy and use the engine with less boost (That's the one you get by default when you purchase the car in the menu unless you put upgrades). Once you have the hang of it, you will need more power ... and more, and more | |
