Obviously, this did not go exactly as planned.  The admins will analyze what happened this week.  I'm so sorry to those who were disqualified   Crying or Very sad

We have to honor the points because it's 500 miles of hard driving, and for those who did finish, it is the fairest thing to do under the circumstances.  Again, I'm so sorry.  When we have something to report, we will let you all know.

EDIT: The results have been corrected to give everyone their proper finishing position for laps completed.

For me this was a fantastic race because i first time finish a 500 mile race although the most of time i drove alone. At the end i had to calculate if i will go for a bit fuel into the pit or not. Finally i had to go there for fuel for 2laps because my tank fas empty. During the first or second pitstop i had to go through the pit because the pit was still closed so in next round i did a regular pitstop which is the last round of yellow phase. It was my luck because if i would stop i could got a DQ as well.

As with racing in any new league, you will need some time to adapt to the other drivers, and they will have to adapt to you Felipe. It's normal. But your attitude is certainly very positive, looking forward to see you next race :top:

That was very unfortunate with the mass exodus because of DQs. rFactor is strange.

I am finally happy with my effort in a 500 miler. The two I ran last year I should have won both, but they ended with massive disappointments.

For this one, all I hoped to do was to do better than at Indy and Pocono. While the qualifying heat was more of the same from the earlier races, I found something in the setup over the week which made me much more confident. While I didn't beem up the field very much, I could at least hang on with the pack. At this point, no one can get more out of the Coyote than me. The only mistake in my driving over the 500 miles was in my first pit stop where I overshot my pit stall. I didn't hit any wall or any other car or anything else. Really pleased with my driving.

The last 80 laps it was all about saving fuel. When I realised that my fuel saving strategy didn't seem to get me ahead of Petr at the finish, I just went for it. I was 3 litres short coming onto the final lap, so I had to make another pit stop. But that battle was great stuff, very fair and clean.

Congratulations to the podium finishers, that was some fine driving up there! Cool

Great fun battling with you Jan, I truly enjoyed it :top:
Ecstatic to get the win, it puts me at an outside shot of the championship. A very long shot, but a shot.

Sorry to those who had the DQ's, it is a very peculiar one.

It wasn't the most eventful race i've done, but i enjoyed it. First, i had a nice battle with Raul. Then i got unlucky in the middle of the race, as the yellow flag waved just as i entered the pit lane. In the end, it turned out to be good for me, as i might have been one of the DQ guys (sorry for everybody).

Then i cruised behind "Pascal the Unpredictable" to improve mileage and make us a little faster. Obviously, he didn't get the concept, as he slowed down in the racing line when i was inches behind, only to pass me at the next straight. Twice. That was really weird, i was wondering what was the reason and i watched the replay from his cockpit. Well, i don't want to know what Pascal does in the car anymore Twisted Evil

The last third of the race was rather lonely for me, but that battle with Jacob definitely was the highlight of my evening. Hard but fair wheel to wheel action, as always with him :top:

Grats to all finishers!

Regarding the coyote mk4 it needs a special way to set it up. After Pocono i was curious about what i could get of it, and after making a radical setup, i was able to do top 5 laptimes. So the potencial is there, but it needs out of the box thinking to get it.

Sorry for that Petr :D I just slowed down a bit so you could overtake me more easily and I didn't want to leave the racing line because of the danger of crashing
Why I overtook you on the next straight? Slipstream :smil20:

I brushed the wall and picked up some damage mere laps into the race but made a conscious decision not to repair anything for fear of possibly losing a lap. For some reason I was very nervous until way past the halfway point, which made it a bit uncomfortable for me. I couldn't have challenged Richard and Jan even with an undamaged car but I'm very happy with the third place Smile David and Pascal, was it good enough for you? :D

No blown engines in this race? My low top speed can be explain with that I didn't want to risk high RPMs in the draft, was always in 4th gear in traffic.

Another factor:  The race boost in the "Post Indy" races is more conservative across the board.

I got the 13th best top speed, but the 4th quickest lap. Food for thought: some people could get more of their car if they set it up less centered around the top speeds Wink There is an optimal point somewhere, from then on you lose laptime.

After analyzing the erroneous DQs in the California 500, we have determined that the best way to avoid these in the future is to do away with the pits-closed rule.  The aim of this rule was to lessen the chance of rFactor confusing the order under yellow. Clearly, the rule has not had the intended effect.  So therefore --

- The pits will now remain open when a yellow is called

Also --

- One extra lap of yellow and one random lap of yellow will be added to ensure that everyone has ample time to pit and get settled before returning the green
