Ugh that sucked. Tagged the wall after the short chute and car was ultra tight for the rest of the race. Stop & Gos hurt bad. Oh well, better finish then I got at Indy. Blah!
Grats Dana!

Best. Race. Ever. I said that already at Mainz-Finthen, right? Naah, this one beat everything! Well okay, the start. What the hell? I mean, I managed to get through the race without any penalties but come on, what happened at the start? That was really, really confusing. The race. 200 laps. I loved it! I almost made a Top 5 finish, but had to be content with P7 after a few bumps in the wall and a damaged rear suspension. If you wonder who caused the Lap 199 Yellow: Hai :3 Yes, I spun at T3 in lap 198 and caused that yellow, but it kinda saved my ass. Why? Because I ran out of fuel about 300-400 meters before the finish line in lap 200 Anyways, congrats to Dana for yet another win and thanks everybody who gave me a kick up the ass to push a bit
Here's the race from my point of view (It seems like YouTube cut off like the first 30 minutes of the stream... Ugh )
EDIT: Apparently, YouTube live doesn't offer archives over 4 hours... I'm kind of upset about that because I made a huge effort to get the beginning of the stream as good as I could. Meh. Anyways, the race is there.

For a moment I was sure the caution and the mess and penalties that followed at three-quarter distance did my race in but it may have been a blessing in disguise because I was this close to running out of fuel at the finish. It was so weird, the whole thing. First I dove into the pitlane but found my spot partly blocked by another car. Stormed back out and the game told me to pass Pascal and follow the pace car. I don't know why, but he didn't let me take my place so we were sort of side by side for the restart and then the game decided I had lapped the entire field under caution, got put a lap down and had to serve a stop & go. Fuck!
Very soon after the start I found out my car wasn't handling very well, with pronounced understeer in turn 1. I made a front wing adjustment on my first pit stop and later on went for a different tyre stagger, but towards the end I was suffering slightly from the numerous contacts with the wall which gave me some bodywork and suspension damage.

Thanks Jukka, that was a close fight for second. When you got your penalty, my game was telling me to follow you around, so i was racing around to catch you, and when the green came, i was penalized straight away with 10 seconds stop and go plus less one lap That was the end of my chances for victory. I was fighting Dana with Jukka all the way to there, altough she was able to gain a lot of time on me and Jukka by stretching her fuel more and being really quick stopping in the pits! but anyways, congrats, but please Dana, be careful when you go to block at the last minute, because there were one or two occasions when i almost rear ended you, and i had to go for the brakes.
And Jukka i knew you were going to run out of fuel, but then the yellow came, i knew my only chance was getting you at the restart. But then i got the car sideways because i was spooked with something that happened in front, tagged the wall, and couldn't pass you, and then with Becnel between us, i had no chance anymore.
Was fun this track that i found out i really like, shame all the mess with the too short yellows and penalties, but still exciting

Qualified 2nd with a 45.881, my Fastest lap of the entire two weeks, with a minute or so to go, my Modem decides to take a massive Shit on me. Luckily it came back on and I just had to start in the back.
At the start of the formation lap, I was supposed to stay behind Ludovic, but as soon as we got rolling he took off and passed almost half the field, again, under the formation lap. I opted to stay back, but it's screaming at me that I'm going to slow and to stay behind Ludo. On the 3rd restart I'm in 3rd. We go green and we went 4 wide down the Front stretch for the lead, was pretty cool, I managed to come out of Turn 1 in 1st, had a nice battle with Dana until the next caution comes out. As we come through Turn 3 the caution comes out and she dives to pit road and I continue around. The Pace car had seemed to have settled down by that point but nope....we went green next time and I was forced to pit under green. After that point, pretty much everytime I pitted I Was given a pass through. The next to last restart It told me to stay behind Jason. As I was catching him, in Turn 3 it suddenly tells me to get behind one of the Greene's and then Hands me a Stop/Go and drops me a Lap for no reason whatsoever.
To add insult to all of this, I barely touched the wall and the right rear goes flat. I pitted to replace it and suddenly I have suspension damage, I just hung onto it for the rest of the race, we get the last caution and go Green and crossing the line I was either hit or I drifted over into someone and started spinnning and getting hit. As I'm being ping pong balled I then notice that the Checkered flag has flown.....No white flag was waved at all on my end.
I would hope that the result would NOT be posted so soon as the results need a MASSIVE going over, especially with some many people having been handed ridiculous penalties for no reason whatsoever.....
Honestly, with the way the yellows were and the Pits, I would suggest abandoning this race, fix the issues and re-run it in August.

As much as I personally would want the race re-run it really wouldn't be fair to everyone who survived the chaos to finish the race tonight.
Can I suggest that before the next race is run that we try to run a shorter race(s) with as many drivers as possible to try to understand/fix the fundamental problems with the safety car/pits/penalties at the moment? I don't know enough about rFactor to know if they can be improved or even fixed but its got to be worth ago as at the moment its screwing up alot of peoples races everytime.

Re-running the race is out of the question simply because of time constraints.
We (the admins) are already in the process of determining what caused the excessive penalties; we will report back when we have a definitive answer and a solution.

Interesting race. I received a drive through penalty on every pit stop, yellow or green. I assume I'm not the only one. Around lap 130 I served my the last drive through at 240 kph in what I thought was the outside lane of the pit lane as several cars pitted in front of me and I wanted to stay clear of them. Turns out the timing stand is firmly planted in that lane about half way down. Game over.

Thank you to everyone for participating, plus Jonatan and Ben for the great TV coverage under hectic conditions. We are acutely aware that something was causing excessive penalties in the race; we will work to make sure we don't have these issues in round 7.

You're sure? See the replay Pascal Mikula posted. He was 21st on the grid and you'll never see me in front of him at any time during the formation lap. So I don't see how I could have passed almost half the field as you claim. It's also a bit strange the game told you to stay behind me. You were 27th on the grid and I was 25th. Shouldn't it be the 26th you were supposed to follow? Seems to me you mistaken me for someone else.

And it also did not give the same messages or even track position to all drivers. So you both are NOT seeing the same thing on screen, and none of you is wrong (or right). I saw Alan as DQ at race start and he was however fine in his own game. More than likely, the game was telling people different cars to stay behind, adding to the confussion.
Next race will be better, it is the usual normal start and we will be ensuring rules are as simple as possible.

No one of you are guilty. The game seemed confuzz with the 3 wide start, it gave some wrong orders to some drivers about position on track.
I'm also pretty certain that this is the culprit for the mess at the start. I was told to follow the guy on the outside line, though I had the spot on the inside...
Can't tell anything about the pit issues, I got a penalty for overtaking under yellow while entering the pits, but from watching, it seemed they were given numerous. I'd hire new stewards

We are looking at it already. The weirdest thing is that we had tested it well under online conditions (Though with only 6 cars) and it worked flawlessly. For the next races we will be going the safest route that is sure to cause less issues, don't worry.

Disclaimer: I think the people behind producing and running USAC73 are doing a great job. My comments have to do with the software I guess.
After reading thru all the after the race comments here, my initial thought was to be in awe as to how realistic this racing series is. There is a long history in auto racing of shady, corrupt and incompetent race organizers, stewards, and self-serving officials. Whether the race has been at Monza, Sebring or Indianapolis, if a driver was caught in an ”off the cuff” mood, he was bound to have a very low regard for the race officials or how the race was run.
Some of the episodes are well documented with one of the most famous being the 63 Indy 500 where Jim Clark in one of those rear engine funny cars had to settle for second when the race stewards wouldn’t flag Parneli Jones (the crowd favorite no doubt) for having an oil leak that prevented Clark from challenging for the lead.
Looking forward to the next race.

Having "slept on it" I have to second Bob's comments. This is a great mod and a great series with a lot of hard working and very capable people supporting it. My hat's off to you guys.

Thanks guys. We all know rfactor has a reputation for being temperamental with oval racing, but yellows are essential in that type of competition, so we work hard to make things correctly, though this is our first season with a full oval series and its special rules (We used slightly different ones for CART98) and we have to learn along the way -the hard way. I believe we will be able to offer some good solution for the upcoming races, going the safe route. Stay tuned.

I agree 100% with Bob & Lee. I have some real life experience in running a racing organization having been President of Badger Midget Auto Racing Association in Wisconsin from 1972 through 1976. It is not easy trying to keep 150+ people with egos happy and inline (drivers, car owners, mechanics, and wives.
This Mod is one of the best available for Rfactor and the people involved are some of the most wonderful people I have ever come in contact with. Hell, in just a little over 4 months, I have friends all over the world.
My day yesterday was crap, but I will do everything I can to help the Administrators and my fellow drivers so we can continue to enjoy one of the most memorable times in US Auto Racing History. I may be older then anyone associated with HSO, but I recognize a good thing when I see it. Thank you to all the Administrators, Developers, and everyone else who helps run our races.
