| I Have always found the moderation on HSO to be very fair and if i think im wrong then i will say im wrong we all no the rules guys .... I Have really enjoyed my short time racing with HSO and im finding more and more time to race on here so i guess you can say HSO is my Home for Online Racing ... Most definatly a great place for the Gentleman Racer ... Keep up the great work guys this DTM Championship is going to be awesome ... | |

You can just see me driving Jans Cossie .... Wrong Cossie, Carl, that's Patrice Gibelin in the #18; I drive the #25 (easy mistake: mine's white with red decals too and I did use the #18 car in the test race before it was assigned to Patrice). In fact I owe you an apology for being gruff with you after the races. Seeing as you apologised, I assumed it was you who shot me off at the first turn late in the 2nd race. Upon review of the replays, however, it turns out that was a Mercedes (to avoid naming names ), there was no contact between us in either race, so sorry for taking it out on you. Speaking of those races, needless to say: they didn't go well. I will admit my machine is dated and not ideally suited for rFactor, but, through running in the large grid VRL races (http://www.vrl-simracing.be) and their help, I'm pretty sure I've got things configured for an acceptable experience at my end. Acceptable is not a word which was applicable to the framerates I actually got in these races, however. At some points in the races and along the track I was reduced to a few images per second, so, some of the time, I was forced to guess where the turn-in point for the corner was and how much to turn the wheel. Not fun at all (and resulting in some pretty creative trajectories ) and a good thing this was a track I know inside out. Replay looks remarkably smooth, one might even (incorrectly) deduce I was in control most of the time... Again: I may not have the latest and greatest PC, but I have beta-tested this mod with 27 drivers at Spa (not exactly sure which version, but it had the busstop chicane in it), I have run several races with various mods at Mid-Ohio (not exactly the least demanding track for rFactor) and I can run a 35AI offline race at this Zolder track, with the TCL mod, at night, without the framerate dropping below 30fps. So, imo., there has to be some sort of a server load issue at work here as welll (I also get worse framerates with the Historic GT and Touring Cars mod on the HSO server as compared to other servers). I'm thinking, maybe, because HSO apparently has bandwidth to spare (8Mbit), the server is sending out more information than the slower clients can handle. I've asked the administrators of the VRL league for their server configuration parameters. Meanwhile, it's as good of an excuse to buy a new PC as any other (and let some other poor sap bear the brunt of this issue :raclure: ), but the problem is, if I do, I don't have time to set it up. So I'm stuck with this situation for at least another month. | |
